They added shit they didn't need to years ago. It started with their "enhanced" version of the famous red squares.

As of the latest update it may be more subtle, but you can't disable it because the devs are dumb faggots who don't realize that the scope of their project need only be parity with the PS2 version. Best to just emulate it.
Does anyone know if you can still download an earlier build somewhere?

Probably but it's just not worth it. PCSX2 or real hardware with a nice CRT is always the preferred way to go.

Actually I think you could disable the Easter eggs in the config, I'm just retarded.
I checked the config before posting and saw nothing to suggest that they had put any kind of toggle in. Though I could also be retarded. It might be UseCustomModFolder but provided they put all of their actual fixes in that folder, and I think they do, it seems like a bit of a nuclear option. It seems while most fixes will survive if you disable the custom mod folder a few actually helpful ones for wider resolutions live there. I am autistically purist but I can grit my teeth and admit that if you don't want to emulate the game SH2EE is probably fine for you.

I'm autistically purist and won't admit that EE and 60fps and all, are worth the sacrifices you make for the experience of a game built for the PS2.

Just emulate the 2.01 ps2 version if you want born from a wish and some bugfixes. Enhanced Edition never fixed the soundchip shenanigans to my knowledge, and the general Emotion Engine stuff.

I don’t think they will ever get everything when they’re still using the old port. It seems like it’s easier nowadays to reimplement a PS2 game’s graphics engine with AVX. That’s what the people who made the open source Jax port seem to say in their FAQ. If a port were made now with reverse-engineered code you would probably not have to compromise in regards to rendering.

Speaking of ports. Cool Silent Hill 1 news.
Very brief demonstration of a mod that I've been cooking for SlickAmogus' Silent Hill 1 PC Port.
A cooperative mod that allows you to play as Lisa for P2, works via LAN.

What are your thoughs? So far movement and enemy synchronization works just great.

Edit: If someone wants to support via running tests of this cooperative mode along with me, feel free to DM here or on discord as Depmify, the thing I need the most is run tests to find errors and correct them!

When I get back into PC gaming maybe I'll play this with other kiwis or my significant other lol.
