I was thinking about the Fermi Paradox, and how we should be able to see evidence of other advanced forms of life, but we see no evidence of it.

Given that the observable universe is a more or less known age, and that means that life cannot be evolving for more time than that, how come nobody puts forward the idea that WE are in the lead?

Everyone acts as if we are a stupid species, but we're not scientifically stupid, just greedy and violent in interpersonal relationships. So maybe WE are the progenitor race from all those sci fi stories!

That idea's been explored. Hell, that's basically the setting for James Cameron's Avatar.

It doesn't really solve the issue anyway. The Universe is ~13.8 billion years old and the Earth is about 4.5 billion. So the rock we evolved on is about 1/3 the age of the universe. The lack of space faring species implies some sort of filter that's so unlikely to pass that nobody in the observable universe has done so yet.

One resolution is that physics may limit technology to "modern world", meaning even interplanetary space travel is hard. Also modern worlds could be relatively short-lived.

Or as you guess it could be the inhabitants of that one third planet happen to be "early to the party" -- maybe expecting to be late.

Unless their true goal is the destruction of Western Civilization. Then they are marching in lockstep.

You would think that Muslims would be against both of those groups. Yet they march in lockstep too. I'll skip the next group obvious group that we are all thinking of. I think you get the point now.

I wonder which specific individual tool that existed in history is the Genghis Khan of tools?

Any movement that does what they do (Christianity, wokery, Communism, etc.) was bred into us for a reason. These people have a genetic predisposition that was fostered in their lives to become what it is.
What did that urge look like "in the wild"? Did we have proto-Helen-Lovejoy's running around saying "You can't eat that clam! Shaman say no blue clams! EVERYONE! THIS ONE TRIED TO EAT BAD CLAM!" to keep people in line? Is the janissary urge just something born into the population like brown hair or freckles?

It's literally just maternal instinct / estrogen / low test. Women are drawn to the social sciences, caregiving, hospitality, HR, etc. because they're predisposed to mercy, they're natural born bleeding hearts. That's why three times as many women are vegetarian/vegan as men, they look at critters suffering and buckle and start crying, overcome with a desire to show mercy to them. The same applies when they see different demographics of humans suffering, no matter how f u c k i n g r e t a r d e d of an idea it is to give mercy indiscriminately, and that's why women are overwhelmingly pro-immigration and pro-equality and soft on crime and all the other soc lib traits. The same thing that makes them good mothers and caregivers makes them terrible decision makers at scale. Unfortunately women are also predisposed to talk more than men are, which means in times of peace they win by attrition, wearing men down until men just say fuck it and do whatever they think will shut them up. Over many iterations this manifests as a slide into merciful ideology under many names, something theoretically virtuous and benevolent but practically unsustainable and self-destructive.

In a society, where it's commonly accepted that you don't respond to "I feel like suicide is beautiful and I want it" with "Do it then!",
where you don't respond to "I'm 30kg, but i still feel fat" with "You're probably right, keep losing weight"...

How have we arrived at responding to "I don't feel right in my body, I feel like a different sex" with "Happy for you!"?
 
Each atom in my body had to come from somewhere. Sometimes I wonder who could have been the previous owners of the atoms I am composed of. For sure it's mostly some random animals but considering how the food chain works it's possible that some pieces of carbon or iron in my body could have previously been a part of some historical figure.
