My shower thought goes like this: Humans evolved a complex brain which propelled us to the very top of the food chain. In comparison to every other animal on this planet, we're the smartest. We are acutely aware of this advantage and exploit it to the fullest, but time and time again I see problems with this which are detrimental to our survival as a species.
I'm not talking about gLOLbal warming, or class oppression, or any of that bullshit. I'm talking about how our minds can hinder our ability to do the one thing every animal must do to complete their life's natural purpose: reproduce. I've found some are victims of these sort of "mind traps", like nihilism, anti-natalism, or perhaps most controversially, being LGBT. These things, among many others, all keep such people from reproducing. That's fucking crazy to me, because any other animal just has to worry about what pattern their fur is or how good they can do a little dance to get laid and have offspring. However, here we are getting our cocks mutilated because we think we're the opposite sex, or that having a child is inherently evil.
I wonder if whatever develops in our brains to act against such a crucial requirement for our collective survival will one day evolve out of us through natural selection, since those people will never have offspring. Like in a hundred thousand years humans will just become incapable of being gay or wanting to have their tubes tied.
