Non-corrective surgeries are the precise reason why a particular family member of mine is currently going through some of the worst health I've seen in an older person. This family member got many cosmetic surgeries to take the easy way out when it came to losing weight, did work on the stomach, arms, typical shit. Then they got their legs worked on. Now, they have no lymph nodes in that area of their body. A car accident many years back crushed both of their ankles, which in combination, led to their horrid case of lymphedema that they have now. I have more memories of this family member dealing with their constantly growing lymphedema in their legs, than I have memories of them not having that.

Cosmetic surgeries like that make well meaning, but still honestly stupid enough people, make decisions like this. Now, the family taking care of this particular person, have to deal with so much more. Do they eat right? Do they limit themselves to things they absolutely shouldn't be doing based on the myriad of health issues? Of course not. But the cosmetic surgeon is somehow the one to blame. Most people, stupid or not, don't need this shit. I've heard more negative consequences that come from elective bullshit like this, than coming from the people who actually needed it.

Also a waste of tax money for the sake of "health", if your surgery results in any complications, you better pay for all the expenses.
Yeah, exactly. People always go "muh adults make their decisions" but when the fallout of those decisions have consequences for others--then, no, you don't make such choices atomized from other people.

Depends on what constitutes "non-corrective". If you're strictly limiting it to injuries that's too narrow a scope. It should include deformities and extreme cases which don't necessarily qualify as deformities (an unreasonably massive fucking nose, for example).

What About This: People are allowed to get all the cosmetic surgery they want in exchange for being permanently sterilized that way they cant pass on their bad genetic material but don't have to live life as a hideous freak? This is win, win. No more ugly people breeding and no more ugly people you have to look at when you go out.

Aaaah, the puritans going after titjobs. No fun allowed.

But if it makes Jews keep their big noses as a sign they aren't white but (((fellow white))), I can see the silver lining.

Troons would argue theirs is corrective, unless you want to ban corrective surgery too. Just ban eunuchs at 1% the effort. This is like arguments to ban dresses so trannies can't crossdess.

Not even Sharia bans these things, but fundies do love to yell stuff to make durka seem reasonable after all, Inshallah. Maybe Boko Haram?

I was about to joke banning it would cause Koreans to go extinct, but thinking about it, without surgery to hide the signs of aging, more women would feel the need to marry before their fertility ran out.

Yes. It is a money making scam, because cosmetic surgery never works. It always results in an uncanny valley, stretched-plastic looking skin. Look at any actor who has had it; every single one looks disgusting, with weird, stretched-out eyes and cheeks, codfish mouths, and tension across the bridge of the nose. Even corrective surgery has variable results at best, but at least it's usually an improvement over what was there before.

Plastic surgeons are paid immense amounts of money for procedures that serve no benefit to anyone, or society--in fact I think you could justify most forms of non-corrective surgery as harmful.
Even as a "muh freedoms" person, I wouldn't stand up for non-corrective surgeons.

I think if plastic surgeons all evaporated and their money was put to better use it'd be a net benefit.
