Question: years ago, I remember a number of seemingly knowledgeable people talking about how XRP was super sketch, using terms like cleptocurrency and such. Recently it seems like people are bringing it up more and more. I won't be buying any either way, as I don't have any interest in crypto speculation, but purely as gee wiz info are the previous concerns about XRP's legitimacy still considered valid?

How do I actually go about buying various altcoins without a third party middleman like Coinbase or Robinhood? Do you just have a separate wallet for each coin? What software (I'd rather hold my own crypto locally as much as possible) or reputable sites (if that's not possible in all cases) do most use? Is there some basic documentation I can read to instruct me on how to securely and privately ruin my life by dumping all my savings into DJT or the next celeb shitcoin?

You create a wallet. For Solana, you might wanna use Phantom wallet. For Ethereum, give Metamask a try.
I think they both offer the ability to purchase crypto without a "middleman", aka a central exchange, using credit/debit cards through Moonpay. However, I've never done that. The best thing to do would be to register for a CEX(Central exchange) like Coinbase, Kraken, Binance etc, deposit fiat there and buy your crypto. Then withdraw it to your personal crypto wallet. Usually there are some wallets for specific networks, you can check and see what networks other than Solana are supported on Phantom and what other than Ethereum is supported on Metamask.
When you want to purchase the latest flavour-of-the-week shitter, you'd go to a DEX - Decentralized Exchange. That way your funds stay on your personal wallet rather than on the middleman(the centralized exchange). If you wanna ape in $TRUMP or another Solana coin you'd usually head over to Meteora, Jupiter, Orca, Raydium or whatever. There you connect your Phantom wallet and are good to go.
You can always go over to the pump.fun casino and experience the wild ride.
My advice for trading shitters is to use something like Photon. It's a third party trading platform optimized for quick transactions, MEV attack protection etc. If you're starting small and wanna ape 10-20-50 bucks, make sure to change the priority fee and bribery amount. The way the network works is, if you're willing to pay higher priority fee and bribery amount, your transaction goes before the rest. However, if you wanna buy for 40 bucks it makes no sense to pay 20bucks in fees, might as well use fucking ETH where any interaction with the blockchain costs 16bucks on a good day. Also increase slippage to a reasonable % where you're okay with it and transactions pass relatively quickly.
This one here is very, very important: Always DO your own research, be VERY thorough. Be sure to verify both the Contract Address(CA) AND THE REAL LIQUIDITY POOL. There are scams where jeets spoof the liquidity pool, you think you're buying the legit coin because the CA is legit, but your money goes to Rajesh's LP and he fucks off with it.
My top choice for DEX these days is Hyperliquid. Very decent experience. But I use Kraken.
Bear in mind almost everything is a scam. If someone gets in touch with you on twitter or telegram, 99% it's a scam. Don't click links, don't give apps access to your wallet unless you're 101% certain they're legit. If you're on crypto twitter be very careful who you follow and who follows you back. Ignore messages, they're either bots or scammers. If someone tells you they're cooking an exciting opportunity and you're very lucky to be included, ask them for proof of whiteness first.
Sometimes you'll leave a random comment on a post and you'll have a bunch of retards follow you and flood your DM's with scams. And don't leverage trade until a solid top/bottom has been established and held for a reasonable amount of time.

I don’t know if it qualifies as a meme coin necessarily, but any thoughts on Pi Network? It started about six years ago and is finally coming to some exchanges with USDT transfer in a few days. Their Xitter has more followers than Ethereum right now, but no idea if that’ll translate to actual success.

My state government is a fucking nigger and doesn't allow Uphold to create accounts for people who live here. How do I get my BAT from Brave? Can I just VPN and create an account from another state? Will that work? Even if it does, am I legally fucking myself by doing this? I know/heard that the Basic Attention thing didn't really take off at all but I still want to horde the digital pennies, if it ever adds up to one piece of IRL silver I'll say it was worth it.
