I've been using a pair of the base Accentums that I picked up on sale in my backwater shithole and I feel that my 450SE's despite being stuck on the 3.5mm cable due to hardware defects sound much better. Playing with the EQ hasn't really helped either.

Lesson learned, next time I'll go to fuckin Sony. Fuck the midrangers and fuck Sennheiser too.

All I have to say about Sennheiser is don't get their gaming headset, its trash well below the standards of their headphones.
Don't buy gaming headsets in general. Headphones like the HD600 reproduce bombastic explosions, screaming and gunshots just as well as they reproduce a well recorded classical piece. Gaming headsets just add a bunch of loudness that drowns out all the detail. I use dedicated speakers/headphones connected to an integrated stereo amp with a seperate Blue Snowball microphone connected directly to the PC for gaming personally.

They used to have some good ones - basically mics tacked onto the standard headphone drivers - but eventually realized cheaping out was the way for that market. It's actually nice they've made that official by spinning the gaming stuff off into Epos or whatever it's called.

The ironic thing about Sennheiser is that their gaming headset like all other gaming headsets are shit for gaming but their general open back headphones are actually pretty good for directional 3D sound that are often used by streamers.

I bought the HD 560S used by streamers, and it really does live up to the hype.
The the direction of the footsteps you hear is much more clear and easier to pinpoint.

Something something Sennheiser Hurr Durr Six Hunnies.
I've been served well by Samson SR 850 cans through several years, even after needing to resolder and insulate the cable. For the <$50 price their quality can't be beat.
For portables I went with KZ Pro IEMs but if I were to go for over ears I'd like to try out some Koss KPH30s, I hear good things about them.
I'd also like to try some Philips SHP9500s since they're supposed to be really good for $100 and have good 3rd parts for them.
I'd be interested in the Mass HD 6XX from Massdrop for $200 instead of the $600 for the 600s as some kind of "end game" set of headphones.

Sennheiser HD280s are ~70USD and I've had a pair for twenty years - the ear pads give out eventually but there's no shortage of companies making replacement kits. It is my opinion that 300+ dollars for headphones is silly, and that there is no such thing as a good gaming headset.

Does BOSE not still stand for Buy Other Sound Equipment?

YAAYYY another KZ-er. love those

Honestly? I'm perfectly fine with my JBL 460ANCs.

For a cheapish (sub $70) pair of headphones with active noise cancelling, they get the job done well enough. Drowns out the ambient noise of public transit, the idle chatter of the office, and the quality's "good enough" for daily use. My only complaint is the fact that the ear pads ain't replaceable and that the wire it ships with is a 2.5mm to 3.5mm one. But hey: bluetooth with active noise cancelling at a price point that's within reach. They're not particularly comfortable for like 2-3 hours at a time though. You really should take your headphones off and give your ears some reprieve, lest ye succumb to sweaty ear plague.

Bose is better.
Ah yes, the jeet sound company with a jeet founder:

(although to be fair, like many jeets that were early immigrants he was actually a good and well regarded engineer, Bose speakers were always well built and technically impressive they just didn't sound super good and succeeded because of marketing hype)

Or better: never buy a gaming headset. It's always crap no matter the brand.
I have a HD550 but I have not used it in years (I have issues with my right ear), I have moved to a 5.1 system from Logitech of all shitty companies.

First off, do not take audio equipment recommendations too seriously when coming from some random guy on the internet with a history of being around shockingly loud events and equipment in military and industry.

Second, Audio-Technica.
They aren't shit yet, AFAIK, so you can actually get what you pay for.
