Come on bruh, psychological war? Seriously? Can you not see how hard your sucking Sam's dick here to even think that his multi-day gaslighting autism extravaganza was psychological warfare?
Let's say the iFaggz thing is true about the DMCA (very possible) and this whole thing is a plot to paint Sam in the worst light possible. As an answer to this, Sam decides to paint himself in a comically horrific way possible, going as far as to have multiple actors and art pieces commissioned just for this cause. Because it's not even cleverly done, iDubbz sees right through it and never releases any video or mention of the project. Over a year later, Hyde decides to post this for all to see and somehow Sam did something great here?
I get it, y'all like this scuffed up loser, so this autistic display of derangement is le awesome epic troll LOL. But from the sidelines, I just see a loser autistic faggot with a chip on his shoulder (iDubbz) trying to make a video to showcase what a deranged moron Sam is and, in response, Sam quadruples down on being the most spergtastic loser possible. Why are you strawmanning my post? Both of them clearly viewed themselves as being in some kind of war of one-upping each other. That was what the interview basically boiled down to, and they wouldn't have both invested all that time with each other if they didn't think they had something to try to prove about the other. You don't even have to like either of them to look at who had the upper hand and who pretty clearly was prepared for what the other one was going to do. As I said, Ian could've fucking destroyed Sam if he would've watched a few of his interviews - Sam even started to get a bit unnerved during Joe's interview and didn't come out of it looking all that smooth. And Joe didn't even have access to much in terms of being able to calculate how Sam would act during that interview. If Ian had watched a few interviews with him, he could've cut through the obfuscation Sam engaged in, but Ian clearly isn't comfortable with actually dealing with a direct confrontation. That's why this situation is funny - Ian got to enjoy the limelight as a tough guy who roasts internet jerks with Content Cop, but he clearly cannot replicate that persona when the other person can respond live.
How that becomes sucking Sam's dick is just mystifying to me. It's fucking bizarre how a few people in this thread clearly have a major axe to grind against Sam, to the point of just wanting to sperg about anything said in this thread that isn't about him being a rapist or a retard, spamming the thread over and over for days, just like someone who totally isn't seething and can't just chill out about people discussing a documentary/video that some content creators put out. The bottom line is that if Ian believed that Sam looked even half as horrible as you're making it out to be, he would've released this. If he saw through the act and thought Sam looked stupid, he would have released this video. If nothing else Ian realized that despite how foolish Sam acted, it wasn't Content Cop quality of making the person look like an asshole and himself look cool and in control.

This was the best stuff Sam has done in years, at least he still has some of his old ability left. Probably Nick helped out a lot, Sam alone hasn't been funny since his TEDx days or his bathroom mirror days, MDE was always the best version of the trio. If the game he is working on ever comes out, and it is at the level of this, then it will be good.

This is fair and valid, but I just don't find it funny as they both are obnoxious and dumb. I agree that he can't replicate that persona when confronted with someone who can out-game him, but there's more ways to outplay a bullshit documentarian then concocting a gaslighting plan.
Because instead of seeing Sam as a gross dude who exaggerates his features to gimp iDubbz content you're seeing Sam as a clever dude who used gaslighting tactics to outplay the player. If you look at it from the perspective of a fan, I can see the appeal, but I feel like when you look objectively at this it's just two cows being cows. I get all of your points and what you're getting at, but I just can't help but see it all as being incredibly stupid. Calling what Sam did "psychological warfare" is just too hyperbolic.
The last bit is just total assumption, we have no idea why iDubbz didn't publish it. My 2c: Ian realized it was shit content and decided not to publish anything. Simple as.

I should clarify then that I don't think it takes a mastermind to manipulate someone else, particularly someone like Ian in this case who didn't prepare himself for how Sam would approach him. Sam isn't necessarily cunning, he just is good at manipulating people, which then makes it clear why his relationships with women are the way they are. I characterized it as psychological warfare because they both seemed to be wanting to manipulate the other into a position of looking foolish. Again, that terminology doesn't mean either of them are engaged in something brilliant, you could describe two high schoolers trying to socially dominate each other as the same thing and that clearly isn't a situation with a ton of gravitas. The point is just that they were trying to psych each other out in different ways. And even though Sam's scenario wasn't necessarily brilliant, he did succeed in making Ian uncomfortable. I think Ian probably did avoid publishing it because how he looked in that video did not whatsoever fit with the image of himself that he likes to maintain. Which is actually a lot like Sam's adopted persona - an unaffected cool guy.
I'll just say that I have enjoyed the content of both people involved at different points but I don't view either of them as being someone you'd want to be a fan of as a person. It's been shown in both cases that their personal lives are trainwrecks because they make bad decisions, particularly with how they handle women and let their vices ruin them. I just find Sam's content a little more interesting at times and he has said some things that are insightful in the past. That's years back though, I don't watch nor would I watch his self-help shit, he's not someone who should be dishing out self-help advice. Both him and Ian are washed up but I have a tiny bit more respect for Sam because I think he's taken more risks in portraying himself in a not-crowd-pleasing way versus Ian. Sam has appeal to his group of fans but that is an extremely small audience comparable to Ian. Also, while Sam likes to portray himself in a certain way I do think he probably has more self-awareness of the shittiness of his life than Ian does, he just seems to not want (or have the drive to get) more out of life than that. I do find him interesting in that way as I think based on some of the things he's said in the past that he was, at least at some point, reasonably intelligent or at least perceptive, but he lacked something within himself to make any real use out of that and just fell into grifting and sin - Ian is probably the same.
That's why this is so interesting for these two to meet like this. They both seem to not necessarily be morons intellectually but they've let degeneracy and a bit of hubris ruin anything they could've done with their talents in the longterm (being an e-celeb has a very limited shelf life). That's not to say I don't still think they both have made some funny content here and there but that's my assessment on them on a personal level and where they are at now shows it.

Psychological warfare is of course hyperbolic, but so is the subjective notion that he's "obnoxious and dumb". The point you're missing, with your attempt to point us back to Sam's already disproven (at this point) pedo allegations, is that Sam is an industry veteran. If you find Tim Heidecker funny, then you should realize that Sam is along those same lines.
Like all good Ashkenazi's (including myself), Sam utilizes his father's unpaid tax dollars to start a potentially successful career on Adult Swim. To the point MDE was supposed to be renewed for 100 episodes. Yet Sam has conviction unlike a lot of people in this industry. This lead to those above Sam's pay rate not continuing their contract with MDE, to many peoples' chagrin.
People don't care that he's an obnoxious sex pest, or hangs around lolcow troons all day. And that's not because he "re-invented" himself as a "self-made" "trad", it's because he never sold out, and that's the royal truth at the end of the day. Despite whatever shortcomings he has, he's stuck with his notion of comedy and it may not help create an illustrious career for him, but it's granted him a devoted fanbase that is steadfast.
The entire point of this "psychological warfare" nonsense people are espousing is that Sam, as an industry veteran, can spot a snake. Ian brings up H3H3 consistently, and points towards that (unintentionally) as a potential motivation in his desire to "punk" Sam.
I'm not a raging fan of Hyde's, but I am one of the many, many detractors of Ethan Klein and iDubbbz. What Sam has done, is one in a multitude of examples of how to handle journalists attempting a "gatcha" moment. He gaslit the gaslighters and that makes people happy.
I for one count that as a win.

Yeah I think I agree with you on that aspect. I think what I find interesting about Sam is that while he himself is obviously morally bankrupt in many of the things he does, he doesn't really try to sell that lifestyle to his audience as a good thing. He uses it for his comedy, but as someone who doesn't share his morals at all I still think he at times gives good advice, usually based on his own mistakes and flaws. Not the self-help podcast shit but some of his off the cuff videos on various subjects. I have to give someone credit for at least trying to provide better advice than what they themselves would engage in. People often come out of prison with that kind of perspective, they know they aren't great people but at least they can provide some value to others in speaking to the experience their decisions gave them. Sam's content kind of has two sides in that way, he does Jackass/prank kind of content but he also has some more serious videos where he seems to be a bit more honest or at least covers topics that are food for thought. Not a huge fan of him either but he's a unique enough character across the entirety of his career that he's worth taking a look at.

I think if you watch that video and don't think Sam is objectively "obnoxious and dumb" I question how you define those words. They are as proven as they are disproven at this point imo, I point more to that list to showcase his illicit behavior and not just label him as a pedo (which I intentionally didn't do as that's the weakest of the claims). I also don't find Heidecker funny, but at least his bit/persona/character ends somewhere. I feel like everyone tells me his behavior and antics is just an act/bit/part of the joke, when in reality he is just a scuffed individual.

I am one of these 'detractors' although I think of myself as just a faggot with too much free time. If iDubbz had published the video and then Sam revelaed it was an act, then I could see some 'winning' but as it stands gaslighting the gaslighter only works if the gaslighter was gaslit. and in this case, he was not.

Honestly the Worldcorp one is the one that interests me the most of the stuff on that list and I don't even know to what extent Sam is involved, although I'm a fag and like creepypasta type stuff so I have scraped through most of what was collected on Worldcorp as far as secondhand info. Not touching their archived website as I don't want to see gore or CP. I haven't seen any info indicating that Sam himself had any role in Worldcorp but there's been mention of Jet Neptune and some others. No conclusion ever seemed to be reached on that as everyone involved was just speculating, nobody could provide proof of where the sketchy videos came from and a few seemed to have been debunked as fake. Weird shit either way. I wouldn't advise reading up on it as it's fairly disturbing and the element of not knowing if the content was real or not isn't pleasant.

I'm not sure where the drama is in all of this. The video shows a desire to get something "back" for all the cost and expenses. Including the interview that I think was really interesting to see, you have two notable comedians, both who have their niche audiences as they have slowly dropped from the general consciousness. iDubbbz with his fantastic content cop series and Sam Hyde with World Peace. Ironically both pretty short lived but really solid work.
What is confusing to me is that Sam was clearly defensive throughout their portrayal of the events as they were unfolding. Noting the "tension" the whole time, but I think it's out of worry that he fucked something up more then if there actually was something he felt the need to be defensive about.
I think there's something to be found enjoyable by Sam fans, and iDubbbz fans alike. It shows nothing really bad about either of them, just that they can't seem to communicate with each other very effectively.
