I think so. His instincts in general seem to be sound - he publicly supported Sir Jim Radcliffe after the colonisation interview last week and put a message on X in response to Restore's launch video giving his support and hoping to talk to Rupert soon.

Habib claims he originally set up Advance with the vision that Lowe would eventually become leader. Lowe rightly declined to join, as he presumably understands that his legitimacy rests on not being a "joiner" of someone else's movement, especially someone who is ultimately a foreigner, however assimilated that person might be. The interesting thing to note is that Habib was caught off-guard by Lowe's announcement. The two have had a cordial relationship in the past as recently as december of last year, so it's clear that Lowe kept this announcement close to his chest and kept Habib out of whatever inner circle he was assembling.

Habib, for his part, appears to be reluctant to lead, and as I pointed out, only started Advance because he wanted an alternative to Farage. If he seeks an influential position within Restore then he'll be a risk, but I think he'll spend a few months tub-thumping and then quietly fade away, because he just doesn't seem to have his heart in it. Habib (who is not an MP) has said a lot, but aside from some lobbying, starting Advance, and fielding a candidate in Gorton, has done very little. By comparison, Lowe has put his own money into running a parallel rape gang inquiry (embarrassing the government in the process) and is highly active on behalf of his constituents (unlike Farage), so is clearly intent on leadership and action. It may well turn out that Habib is a snake, but I don't think it will actually matter. Lowe has not currently signalled reciprocity on the idea of merging their parties, so for the moment it looks like he intends to go it alone.

Oddly, some knowing insiders were shilling for Reform just a few days ago. For example Connor Tomlinson spent hours "guarding" Matt Goodwin this past week, at great detriment to his credibility.

The final decision to launch may have been last-minute. The party's media materials are rushed-seeming (and crap).
