They had like three black women who were affluent cunts who almost no one Earth can really empathize with. Micah was the daughter of that Star Trek guy, Fiona was the wealthy daughter of French guy and went to expensive schools all her life, and the last one was fairly wealthy and bragged about petty theft and pissed off a community member.

They kept trying to make it work and didn’t understand that it wasn’t purely a racial thing. It was also a class/ income thing. Those were rich bitches who could not mesh with the men who made the baseline of their product. Micah was a dumb valley girl who thought Texas was inbred Appalachia that wanted to kill her for being black when depending on where you are it’s either racist Hispanics, nice German Americans, Irish farming mutts of varying mixture, and blacks who’ve lived there for 100+ years.

With the Micas, there was no hazing!
When they had Jeremy join Achievement Hunter, there was a period of hazing and abuse he had to suffer through before he was accepted by the group and by the audience.
They made him eat so much sour candy that he needed dental work, and they made him gorge himself on fast food during a fake competition.
Same with Matt Bragg; he was teased relentlessly for years before it actually felt like he was part of the group.
But with Mica and especially Fiona, they just showed up one day and were treated with kid gloves. No jokes at their expense, no criticism, no pranks, nothing. I remember it being a noticeable difference at the time.

Not just kids gloves, but very noticeable glazing. They acted as if they were the funniest, most talented people on Earth and that they loved working with them. I know I've told this story before, but there was one Gmod stream they did where they kept bringing up how Fiona said she was going to join in and how excited they were for it, you'd think they'd talked a celebrity into making a guest appearance.

I'm re watching sky factory, its not all 10/10 stuff. But man its some solid classic stuff from them, sucks who they are now. Its sort of tainted by what is known now as it features in Geoff's divorce period where he is at rock bottom.

When they did that Last Laugh show, when Fiona was introduced Geoff praised her as one of the funniest people he's ever met before and how great she was. She didn't make anyone laugh, her bit was to just stand up and point out that her mother was a nigger, and when no one reacted to the word she just started laughing. Pretty sure she was the first one kicked out of the show.

And then when people pointed out how Ky's audio track was louder than anyone else's, rather than adjust her to match the others, the group just came out with 'loud is what we do' like whoever said it was stupid for thinking being loud was a bad thing.

This was really fucking stupid because I don't need a Klan hood to hear her peaking her fucking mic when she screamed

That's another thing too, you could tell which ones came from wealth and which didn't. Lindsey was the wealthy well to do of the group as was Jack the well off soyboy. The objectively funniest of the group started with near nothing or had something that required shoveling out shit from a client's toilet ie the folks who started with nothing. I think the last of the acquisition groups I enjoyed were CowChop. The other channels in the late stage RT network all came across as pretentious California yupees; I don't enjoy Funhaus content outside of the legendary /\

Lindsey was fine, but she tried too hard and rather than try not to alienate fans by pushing her they pushed her. Women can be funny, but often they can’t be the main attraction. It is rare for a woman to be able to be consistently funny.

Jack is a self-hating upper middle class white guy. He’s extremely boring and all of his interests are extremely consumerist. When the company became more like him with bitching about their extremely expensive purchases or bitching about airports they lost their way. People like Matt Peake and Joel became rarities. Peake was a professional editor who’d been in the entertainment industry for years. I got the feeling he didn’t like the unprofessionalism of RoosterTeeth mixed with the corporate culture that was working its way in. Joel felt like someone who got alienated from something he helped build and was key in building.

Lindsey wasn't great at first though. She had to learn how she fit into the group and once she did she was a fine if not outright welcome addition to the videos she was in.

It's really a shame, she was starting to grow on me once she started actually fitting well into the group. Then the Ryan/Adam debacle happened and I tuned out of watching

I think the broader issue with latter run AH/LP people is that they simply were unfunny and unlikeable.

I'd also posit that trying to cram a bunch of women into what is a mans thing is also a terrible idea, especially when there's 0 testing period for it. Like its been said in this thread, Jeremy and Matt both got jumped in. Hell, I don't even remember anyone liking Matt back in the day.

Not to say a woman can't thrive in these sorts of spaces (I thought Elyse was great when she added into Funhaus and for a non-RT example, I think Sigrids been a great addition to Russianbadgers vids) but cramming these random chicks into a space they simply don't belong is a death sentence.

She wasnt but, unlike the ladies already mentioned, they gave her tons of shit. Creeper Soccer was her idea and it went fucking terrible on the first run and they ripped her shit for it.

Also the fact that they had both been in the community for years and had helped out with videos before they joined. They understood the audience because they were part of it, and while Lindsay wasn't accepted at first, she also knew what made AH work. Hell, before he left for animation, Kerry had a whole video where he got abused as part of his initiation.

With Fiona, the closest we got to her being 'jumped in' was this clip of them making fun of her being French and rather than go with it, she just threatens to leave.

Joel making Jack Fattillo seethe at that one panel show (RTX ?) is still funny to this day. Didn’t he give out Jacks phone number too lol

I think the big difference between those that meshed well and were entertaining like Elyse and Lindsay (mostly) was they were willing to be laughed at instead of laughed with. If you can't be the butt of the joke now and then you're not going to do well in a male space given how much of our humor involves fucking with each other.

Also that hilariously bad Legends of the Hidden Tower episode where Lindsay (and Matt?) clearly did no testing on the challenges:
Also Lindsay kept fucking up and giving the answers to the quiz questions after the first wrong answer instead of letting the other teams buzz in.

I started watch AH/LP (without following any of other channels, podcasts, Twitter, etc.) maybe a year before Ray left, and I have no memory of anything Mica did. I know she was there, but can't say what games she liked or didn't like, what kind of jokes she said, and so on. When Fiona first appeared out of nowhere, playing terribly using other peoples accounts, I just assumed that she was some random instagrammer who was visiting the studio and recorded a video or two with them. It probably took at least a week before I started considering that she was a permanent addition.

It's still so funny how pc gay black gamer women are like 0.0001% of the population yet after the Mica debacle their white guilt was so bad they overcorrected and hired like 3 of them in a row lmao. Then they tried to pretend like it was all normal hiring process and they weren't specifically browsing twitch to seek them out. At least that's how it seemed to happen, I was already watching from afar at that point so I don't remember the details.

It was basically all cronyism for those later hires tbh. Mica got brought it because her dad was famous. Fiona was brought on because she was an associate of Etika who they actually wanted but he bailed last minute and Ky was just someone Fiona liked. I assume BK was brought in for a similar reason.

I think the bigger issue too is that basically every company did this sort of thing, focusing on hiring minorities only. Basically since 2014, industry boomers got real scared of being perceived as racist so they really overcorrected and in the process basically ruined every industry.
