Apparently this company died too soon. Imagine if RT was still active and not shut down at WB, they'd finally have the budget to pull Netflix specials. If y'all didn't manage the company into a hell scape, things would have been better. Netflix to Acquire Warner Bros
Probably wouldn't have worked. I remember hearing they tried to get Netflix to finance Day 5 season three and that got shut down hard. Which is a shame, I wish we could have seen how it ended, but considering how season 2 went, season three probably would have been dumber.

Gotta be a blow when Netflix, who has financed some of the worst fucking garbage I've ever seen wont even say yes.

Regardless has Burnie done anything with RT since getting it back yet?

I still find it funny that after already crashing and burning to the ground once, Bernie seems to not have learned anything with RT's failure. Most content is still "Sponsors only" on their site. So anyone other than the incredibly small dedicated fan base is never going to engage with your content. Why are they obsessed with this retarded business strat?

I went to the reddit to see what people are even engaging with these days and its mostly them just asking why no one (Like Michael and Alfredo whatever his dumb gay name is) are no longer uploading on youtube. Everyone in the comments says they are "Jumping to focus on patreon" but you look and every video/podcast gets between 1-4k views. RT fans are so deranged NO ONE wants this content anymore

This is probably exactly what he wants. RT's success was founded on a small niche community of Internet spergs who waited a half an hour and three interrupted connections via phone calls to download the newest RVB. If he can catch lightning in a bottle again, nothin' but respect. Even now, he wasn't there for the inshittening and still created one of the most influential media company of my time.

My assumption is that Bernie probably got a nice lump payout way back when and is pretty set monetarily thanks to his genetic fiscal abilities, unlike 95% of the former Rooster Teeth employees (I think Geoff, surprisingly, and Gavin are probably the two doing the best with their post RT stuff...and that still amounts to just another fucking podcast, albeit an entertaining one).

His regaining the IP of Rooster Teeth is probably 3/4 reclaiming his legacy, since he probably doesn't need it to actually perform well to put food on his table, and 1/4 a half hearted attempt to reboot.

I'm guessing if he bothers to put any more effort into it barring a podcast that it'll progress very slowly, when he feels like it, maybe.

That’s bizarre, I’ve never seen a channel like this move to Patreon as their main platform.

Their last YT video was three months ago, yet they’re still uploading full videos multiple times a week to their Patreon… even though you literally won’t reach anyone new using it.

I suppose each of them still streams? It’s still weird either way. Regulation is genuinely the only one which actually worked and all they did was keep delivering the content people actually wanted, in the old ways they were accessed before.

I tried watching their last video and I genuinely don't know who this is catered towards. I thought it was kids but they are cursing. Is this video actually made for retards? Like this is genuinely bizarre content.

Also holy shit their patreon gets zero engagement. 10-15 likes + comments. They need to just get fucking jobs and move on, clearly they are not able to get a following on their own lmfao
Like I don't get it. I don't understand the point of this channel

somehow doubt he's gonna catch lightning in a bottle with a paywalled podcast, how is he gonna make it big with that? RVB for the time was a very well written web series and halo was going through it's golden age so it only hyped the series more, what is bringing people in for the podcast? there's a million other podcasts, the only ones willing to invest are old fans and only a small part of them and that number is only gonna shrink not grow. I doubt Bernie is gonna be successful.

Who is to say that the goal is to make it big? It wasn't there goal to make it big when they did RVB. Have people forgotten that sometimes people do things just because they enjoy it? Not to mention without the benefit of a large budget to pay for moderation teams, adding a paywall helps curate the audience and makes it easier to manage. I doubt they have the staffing that they did when their community was large.

Because it worked. Sponsorship was their bread and butter twenty years ago and it was a major part of their income for most of the life of the business. The reason they crashed and burned is because they didn't have anything worth watching for sponsors and kept bringing in DEI hires who contributed nothing to the quality of the product and instead brought everything down, while the original people who people actually liked were forced to shill the newbies and defend them for being shit.

The problem is now the old fans have been so burnt by RT they probably don't even know it's come back and Burnie has control again. And I personally don't care to go back because the momentum is gone for me, I just don't care anymore.

At the least, I hope he does let Ray bring back some of the old AH shirts since he mentioned wanting to sell throwback shit in some stream recently.
I don't follow Ray but I was under the impression that he'd long moved on from AH. It's kind of sad if he's gone back to member berries regarding AH/RT.

He has long since moved on from them but in recent years, especially since a lot of the people he collabs with now were fans of him during AH, he's seemingly warmed back up to it at least. With the company being dead and him coming out on top, I think he has no regrets about leaving or being a part of it anymore too.

Hell, you used to cop an instant ban if you ever mentioned AH in his chat way back when.

I agree but I think the huge chunk of the real reason is skipped over. Before the DEI, their projects were mostly sponsored but also funded through other avenues like ads and corporate sponsors. Before the DEI happened they were attempting to find alternatives to sponsor only funding.

Micah, I really do feel, was hired out of greed; maybe they'd get some trek money. I don't remember all the acquisitions either. The fans, in a sense, were abandoned producers of great content; even content that wasn't so great like Lazer Team. Didn't matter that it sucked, it was just nice to be part of a crowd funded movie. The more they stopped listening to us, the worse it got. That's the fact, Greed, Envy, Pride, the core of how RT died.

Edit:
Maybe not skipped over, just understated.
