Ridley Scott's Napoleon - Murray, when you bring me out can you introduce me as le petit caporal?

Because battle scenes are expensive, even with CGI.

Two idiots talking? not much, and GoT showed there's an audience for that.
Just the idea of overblown CGI battle scenes that look way more like pre-rendered PS3 cutscenes being expensive all boils down to how many people who worked on it just for the people to get paid worse than most other crew members, especially working overtime.

I've seen the movie and it does feel like a video game cutscene at times. I wonder if the workers demand more for less the effort they put in?

I knew this film was gonna be middling at best when I heard that Josephine was cast as much younger than Napoleon. What a joke. Napoleon fell for a MILF six years his senior. To suggest otherwise is both a lie and an honest offense to the Frenchness of l'Empereur himself.

On a somewhat related note, I watched the 1927 silent epic Napoleon during Christmas. It was very much kino of the highest order. Would strongly recommend it to anyone interested in Napoleon. (Here's a link to the version I watched: https://ok.ru/video/1369258724037)

It's one of my favorite movies. It's the only Napoleon kino.
>That scene where a young Napoleon lays on the cannon, crying at the loss of his eagle, but then his eagle comes back and perches next to him among the snow and cold.

It was at this moment I knew I was in for KINO.

It's a great shame that the other five parts of the planned epic weren't made, so we never got the intended chronicle of Napoleon's life and triumph. However, I'm suspicious as to how well the production would've worked even if it all being silent wasn't an issue with the advent of talkies. ww2 and the cataclysm of Europe was a little over a decade away, so if they somehow pulled it off it would've been just before the War put everything on hold for about a decade.

Despite all that, what we do have is amazing. "Napoléon" is right up there with "Gone With The Wind" and "Once Upon A Time In The West" for me as films that are not just enjoyable, not just quality, but make you feel in your soul as you watch and listen that you are experiencing nothing short of kino.
