no.Does Japanese cancelling go as far as Chinese cancelling, where you can even get cut off from all forms of banking and payment processors, i.e. WeChat, and taking public transportation like their High Speed Rail?
A. P. Hill's post is more applicable to korea and china. Very few people are cancelled to that level in Japan outside of certain parasocial fandoms† these days.
The type of mainstream cancelling that people like Fuwawa experienced as more to do with companies not wanting to hire someone who has completely destroyed their own image when there are 1000 other tarento who aren't toxic ready to pick up the phone.
In the end, she is already forgotten and nobody cares enough to attack her anymore because she didn't commit any unforgivable crimes (like marijuana possession). She just wont show up or be mentioned on TV anymore. Nobody was a die-hard fan of her in the first place, so there's not enough fuel to burn.
†mainly k-pop and boy groups. idol fans have this reputation but I believe has cooled off in the last decade because of aging demographics and more organized self policing efforts. In my opinion, Japanese mass media is intensely negative towards male idol fans but ignores bad behavior from female dominated fandoms because there's no easy angle.

This is somewhat old news, but Tachibana Takashi from the party formerly known as the Protecting People From the NHK Party was arrested on Nov 9. The reason why is hard to explain but there has been an ongoing regional scandal in the Hyogo prefectural government centered around governor Saitou Motohiko being extremely corrupt and and hounding whistleblowers to death. Tachibana inserted himself into this drama by defaming a whistleblower that committed suicide and claiming that the whistleblower killed himself because he was about to be arrested by police (completely false). Even supporters of Saitou Motohiko are annoyed that this fat faggot joined their side to tell easily disproven lies for clout.
Tachibana also leaked the names of sources from within the prefectural government that sent him audio recordings that claim that the dead guy he defamed was actually the mastermind of a conspiracy to overthrow Saito. This is the part that pissed off the police so much they moved to arrest him.
This defamation charge is somewhat similar to how Alex Jones was charged by Sandy Hook victims. Tachibana will face an extremely unsympathetic court, and his previous criminal record will be used to increase his punishment.
