I’m confused as to why they even made a Mario 64 port when better ports that cover all the same use cases have already existed for years. Want a bunch of options and QoL enhancements? Super Mario 64 Plus. Want crazy mod support? Co-op Deluxe. Want portability to other systems? EX. If Ghostship at least combined the best of all worlds then I’d understand, but it doesn’t.
It is easier to get up and running, but what really turned me off was how unstable it was.

I still couldn't get a clean quit with the updated version, the quit button crashed the game.

I haven't touch my Sega Genesis add-on battleship (Genesis model 1, CD model 1, and 32x) since I use my steam deck emulators but I really been having a itch to play the 32x Doom Resurrection again on the Everdrive. It's weird wanting to play Doom on the 32x but Resurrection just made it surprisingly playable and it's really nice to have a such a great port for a troubled system with one of the most notorious ports.

Just por the DS tuff to the decompilation, already. Despite the improvements tha the DS version brings, neither a control pad nor a touch screen would properly control such a game.

Última edición:
If you guys boycott anything troon related in the emulator sphere you're not gonna have a lot left. It's just something you have to not think about.
This. Just use the software and don’t play with the “community.”
Or retvrn to tradition and play on real hardware instead of imbibing bathtub HRT emus.

Dug out my 3DS, which is in the exact state it was when I last played it. I've not powered it on, but I don't think it's been out of the case for the best part of a decade. At least before COVID iirc. Still has the games I was playing at the time in the carry case. Trying to find the charger for it.

Turns out there's a "street pass meet" at a nearby convention. I used to like Street Pass, it's a shame no one really carries 3DS with them any more. Though I'm wondering if it's worth carrying with me any time I go on public transport, just to see if I get any passes.

It was one of those features that doesn't really work when emulating. I'm sure there's ways to fake it, but that lacks the magic.

What happened?
The most street passes I got were around 2012 at Disney World in Florida.
Got tons of puzzle pieces those two days.

On an unrelated note, is anyone here a fan of the Arcade Archives and Console Archives series by Hamster? I was looking through the lineup, and there's a lot of interesting stuff in there.
Absolutely. Best reason to own a modern cucksole. Lots of truly great games, lots of great editions of weirdass mediocre games. One of the vanishingly few rom-mongers who consistently sell a functioning product instead of half-assing it.

Thanks to a pricing error on the UK PlayStation store years ago I got the Contra one for free. They do nice work, but the pricing is ridiculous, especially when the collections Konami is putting out these days have more content per game at a lower per-game price.
The AA Contra release is notable for being (afaik) the first time the behind-the-back levels actually worked correctly in emulation, with everything going at the correct speed and behaving right. MAME corrected it a little later I think, and the Contra Collection thing isn't right either. This is a good example of how Hamster actually does their jobs, even when it's ultra-autistic and nobody notices or cares. $8 (or $4 on sale) is relatively steep, but you never have to wonder if they fucked it up. They didn't.

Gotta love when "preservation" products revise, censor, alter or mutilate what they are supposed to be preserving!
It sucks but there's not a damn thing they can do about it either. It's not like Hamster is run by dangerhairs, they just can't afford lawyers. Note e.g. that Marvel Land was a Japan-only release, presumably because they are overly paranoid about getting raped to death by Disney lawyers for having the word "Marvel" in the title. They are that level of paranoid, probably rightfully so.

No, Hamster, I will not pay $8 for Pac-Man on a console that already has four other ports of Pac-Man bundled with other games for cheaper. Nor will I pay $8 for a single mid-tier NES game, especially one whose distribution is exclusive to Switch 2 and PS5 for no reason. Enjoy piracy.
You're just mad salty that Virtual Console is closed and now you can only buy cool and fun arcade roms like Tinkle Pit instead of gay boring consoy Mario games. Anyway, true Pac-Chads pay $8 for the Atari 2600 port.

Didn't stop Namco from releasing the Mega Drive port in the US on the Genesis back in the day.

The Tetris the Grand Master 1 & 2 ACA releases did have a few slight issues at first actually but they were quickly patched. Still hoping for Grand Master 3 to show up one day.
