as a new user I'd say yes it was confusing at first but it was nice discovering and learning all the subgenres of cow. like choosing a wine pairing with a cheese. now its all a mess. Maybe the whole site should just be a venn diagram and the threads are circles that move on the plane.

I've seen the autistic ratings and supposed reports for daring to post videos on pics & gifs, the frequent posters are unique. I think you should just go for it, after all you don't need to consult the users, they are the kind of people posting Facebook Boomer-tier shit after all.

ok that makes sense, it helps keep community watch have quality control at least. looking at all lolcow threads the 4 have that weird interacting with their thread thing so it makes sense so they dont shit it up with alts or whatever. only one that doesn't fit that profile is the 764 but again, I understand why you would want to have that weird pedo cult prevented from shitting up the thread as well (and I'm also unfamiliar with that thread so maybe there is that sorta shit going on). Great changes overall.

Unfortunately I think part of the lack of growth is that an awful lot of people are, to put it delicately, fucking morons and can't be assed to learn how to use the site. That's not an indictment of anything, just the experience I've had trying to get a few people to join. Only one referral ever went "oh yeah, I recognize that site format, it's just like the message boards I've always used." The others balked and never signed up.

Unfortunately anything that doesn't have a UI similar to Snapchat or Facebook isn't going to be something that people can navigate anymore. Younger people are even less "tech savvy" (or whatever you want to call the ability to navigate a bog standard forum/message board site) than older people at this point.

Maybe a controversial opinion but the quality of many discussions, the phenomenal archiving, the lack of bullshit censorship, and the absence of a gay hivemind on this forum has kinda made the lolcow aspect almost secondary for me.
When big events happen, I head straight here because I know I'll be well informed and communicating with (mostly) reasonable people. I joined for Rekieta, Larson, and Fishtank but after Kirk's murder, I've come to realize that KF is way more important than anyone gives it credit for.
