"Hello, saar"I see internationalizing the site as a way to grow horizontally and I want to encourage it. I'll be picking some moderators that speak other languages to help facilitate this. I'm not sure what else I can do to encourage growth this way though; it has never picked up steam despite my efforts in 7+ years.
Yea the site is unusable to find any niche topics now. Null laughed at the idea of reading specifically for communities but I frequented that board and it will be insanely hard to find that stuff now. We need tag filters at the very least.Hey, if everything is thrown into one giant thread, can I at least filter by tags? Right now, the first page of the Lolcow board is a giant eye melting list.
It operates under different rules. The remaining boards either have special rules or do not conform to the 1 thread per person format. That said, it causes me to wonder why we still have the Beauty Parlor? It might make more sense if every woman lolcow was there, but it seems just as arbitrary that some women lolcows are there and some aren't.
ok saarThat's all great but there is still no navigation to the index/home page at the bottom of forums/threads like it use to be, and I still automatically try to find and click it every time I reach the bottom of any page. Do the needful saar. Namaste.
I understand that, but which cows make it in and which don't still seems somewhat arbitrary. It operates under different rules.
Regarding the latter, perhaps its time to drop TotalBiscuit from the Jim Sterling thread title, and Rachel Baker from Spoony. If you really wanted to you could separate all of the TB posts and make a Lolcows of History thread for him but that sounds like a lot of work for something no one cares about. The remaining boards either have special rules or do not conform to the 1 thread per person format.
Is there a way to have people be able to see the A+H forums without being able to actually access the threads? Make leeches who come here for happenings actually sign up to get infoGrowth
The size of the Kiwi Farms has not increased at all since the end of Drop Kiwi Farms.
Dunno. That's all I have to say.
her thread predates the board. i could pull it over. The first example that comes to mind is Ellen Woodbury, what makes her unworthy of the beauty parlor?
As a main page enjoyer, having more categories surfaced more random threads for me to click on because each sub-board would show the most recent thread. This could also be informative if something new was happening, like I saw a specific new Ralph thread, or a Lolcows of History article kept getting new posts, or a new PG thread pops up.I never used the category hierarchy anyway for exactly the reasons you outlined.
Agreed, I much prefer having individuals placed in categories. Makes it easier to browse and read about people within similar spaces. No I'm sorry, I think this is super ugly and inconvenient to have to scroll through. I preferred the old school forum look with categories. Even if there was some individuals with overlap, idk how throwing them all into a single miscellaneous box is in any way an improvement of any kind.
It has less to do with appealing to new traffick than it does making the experience nicer for the people using the site. There's lolcows of all kinds who are forever going to have their threads bumped over the niche shit that fascinates me and I would rather not mark to a follow those threads when they do get bumped and spammed with shit bc not every bump is actual milk. The things I pay attention to are already either at the very bottom of page 1 or somewhere inbetween and I do not feel like having to use search/alt-F just to find their threads every time. At best, I have to find the first post with a tag of that category to click on to sort by those categories.![]()
