The figure exceeding 1,000 miles refers to Georgia Power’s wider grid-expansion program across the state.
That is not a minor typo. It turns a specific 35-mile corridor into one gigantic 1,000-mile line.
The article then says that “the line” will distribute nearly 10,000 megawatts from “a newly constructed power plant.” Yet the Georgia Public Service Commission fact sheet describes 9,985 megawatts of new statewide generation. It does not describe one 10-gigawatt plant feeding one transmission line.
Within two paragraphs, a statewide generation program becomes a single power plant, a statewide transmission expansion becomes one 1,000-mile line, and a complicated eminent-domain dispute becomes “AI data centers are destroying people’s homes.”
The headline also creates a conveniently false mental image. These houses are located along a power-transmission route. Data centers are not being constructed directly on all 330 properties. The line will serve data centers alongside Georgia’s ordinary residential and commercial demand. CBS reports that the remaining 20–30 percent will serve other customers.
Then there is the language. Georgia Power is described as being on a homeowner’s “war path.” Properties are in its “crosshairs.” The article ends by ominously invoking the tech industry’s increasingly “urgent” hunger for compute. A giant wrecking ball smashes into a building in the illustration.
Every element tells the reader what to feel before the reader understands what happened.
The piece contains almost no meaningful technical analysis. It does not explain the difference between generation and transmission. It does not examine possible alternative routes, the legal standard for eminent domain, the grid’s existing capacity, or which data centers will use the power. It mainly summarizes Fortune’s reporting, injects loaded language, and packages the result for syndication.

His ideological background is equally obvious. Wilkins previously wrote for Jacobin. His Jacobin archive includes arguments for bringing utilities under public ownership, attacks on privatization, stories about working-class exploitation, and an article celebrating communist composer Luigi Nono. His master’s thesis also examined Nono’s political engagement.
Calling him a pinko music major is therefore considerably closer to his documented résumé than calling him an AI expert.
His politics are his business. They also explain the monotonous framing. Every subject gets squeezed into the same crude class-conflict template: corporation evil, technology oppressive, workers victimized, private ownership corrupt, apocalypse imminent. Once that template is selected, inconvenient distinctions become disposable.
Look through his Futurism archive. The headlines repeatedly announce hatred, disaster, fury, ecological catastrophe, corporate humiliation, financial collapse, surveillance, and communities rising against data centers. He has found a reliable content niche feeding anti-AI resentment to a retarded redditor audience already desperate to believe every server rack is the Death Star.
