If you had to rank countries or regions by the different food and cuisine they have what countries would you put on the list?
It has to be food you've actually had.

Mine would be:
1.) United States of America
2.)Mongolian/Northern China
3.) Germany
4.) Italy
5.)Mexico
6.) Greece/Turkey/Egypt
7.) France
8.) Korea
9.) Argentina
10.) Brazil
11.) Sweden
12.) Great Britain
13.) Japan
14.) Spain

Is it food from that country, or recipes that are identified with the country? Since as much as the occasional Chinese is nice, I'd rather eat Bri*ish food than anything sold inside China.

Rule of thumb is the more distance you get away fron france and italy, the worse the food gets. The USA has some good local shit that isn't in the EU. Japan is probably a meme since the food they are most well known for is either American bastardised versions, or very salty/fatty.

I'll make a top 5 because some have been too long ago
1. Spain
2. Japan
3. China
4. Germany
5. UK

Name some of the USA's famous cuisine that's not hot pockets, hotdogs or hamburgers. I genuinely cannot think of anything.

That being said:
1. Croatia
2. Austria/Germany
3. Italy
4. Japan
Haven't really dined elsewhere. However, if Dutch markets are anything to go by, all their food is fucking tasteless slop. No wonder every single one of them is high all the time.

1 - Italy
2 - Middle Eastern
3 - Slav countries
4 - Mexico
5 - USA
6 - UK

Not too experienced with German food but I'd either rank it Equal to UK or USA, not sure so I'll just leave it as unranked.

7 - India
8 - Everyone else

I'll rank the food of the countries I have been to:
#1 South Korea
Maybe I'm biased because I live here but there is just something about classic Korean food that is amazing. I like pa kimchi, seolleongtang , stinky bean soup, and so much more. I have stomach issues so it is easier on my body. Sometimes I will get hotteok and it heals my soul.
#2 Mainland China
Surprisingly they don't eat gutter oil. I was in Jilin, and it was so incredibly flavorful. I loved the lamb skewers, hot pot, crawfish, and beef noodle soup. I also ate some grilled beef prostate that was amazing. However I will say I had some of the worst diarrhea of my life after eating some of the street food. My husband and his family were alright so I think it's skill issue on my end.
#3 Japan
I was in Osaka which is supposed to be the food capital of Japan. I don't know if it was because I ate at the wrong places or what, but I didn't enjoy it as much as I expected. It was still good, don't get me wrong, but just not as good as I expected. The ramen was great though.
#4 United States
Food is okay sometimes. Tastes like chemicals and hurts my stomach. They have a lot of gems but I guess it's not my thing. A lot of food was too greasy or chemically. I like catfish, crawfish, gumbo, and cheeseburger. I also liked poboys, boudin, and frito pie. I really liked Dr. Pepper, one of the best drinks in the world. American junk food is ok sometimes.
#5 Canada
I hate Canadian food. Food was expensive and I thought it was a prank with how bad it tasted. I paid too much money for gross food that hurt my stomach almost as bad as American food. I hate Canada in general, but the food was disgusting. There is nothing I liked except the food I made in my own home.

My top 10, of the countries I am familiar with:
1. Italy
2. Greece
3. Indonesia
4. Japan
5. Thailand
6. Mexico
7. Austria/Germany
8. Morocco/Algeria/Tunisia
9. India
10. China

1. Spain
2. Singapore
Power gap
3. Taiwan
4. Japan
5. Italy
6. Mexico
7-98. Everywhere else I'm ambivalent on
99. India
Power gap
999. British

1. India (Bengali/Bangladeshi and Southern Indian specifically)
2. Thailand (Laotian is good too)
3. Levantine/Turkish
4. Mainland Chinese
5. Malaysian/Indonesian/Singaporean

Simple salads with herbs, lemon or lime, vegetables sauteed with garlic and chillies or in a onion/tomato based sauce and spicy meat dishes with cumin are my favorites. I like dishes with fermented ingredients and strong cheeses too, but with cheese I prefer the less is more approach. The complexity of it gets lost when you add too many other ingredients.
