I have to walk to Safeway and I have to put on pants. I have a knee length night shirt and it is 70F outside. WTF does society force me to wear pants? GODDAMN MY LIFE.

You're legally covered enough to be in public, but a store might have a "pants required" policy and be able to refuse you business. Although, I'd be surprised if they did, because they'd be turning down your money.
