1- Again, PG isn't about kids. It's about the sponsors. Like it or not pro wrestling is looked down upon. Justifiably so in some ways. If this is what it takes to get lucrative sponsorships then it's a smart business move that I find hard to argue.
2- CHIKARA isn't as accessible as WWE so that's a bit of a moot point. That's like going "If you want better movies go see French movies at Cannes." Yeah it's an option but not everybody can do it.
3- As I said go back and rewatch The Attitude Era. Heck biggest show of the year, Wrestlemania XV. It's straight up garbage. Same can be argued for Wrestlemania 2000 and this is at the peak of Attitude. That time gets looked at with rose tinted glasses but in reality it had awful skits, some awful gimmicks and the wrestling could be pretty awful at times.
4- PG was around during the 80's which was one of the most successful eras in WWE history. Hell you can argue that it was G rated.

If you dislike the current product, fair enough. As I said I'm not too high on it barring a few bits. But blaming the TV rating of a show is absurd when it has worked before. The blame for bad WWE is on subpar writing more than anything.

I never enjoyed hardcore matches. The only thing entertaining that came out of any hardcore match put on by WWE or WCW at the time was...

1- How is The People vs George Lucas? Never got around to seeing it.
2- I wasn't huge on Fandango. Was partial to poor puns/creeper Johnny Curtis. But what sold me on the new gimmick? The giant silhouette after he gets in the ring. THAT rules.
3- Brad Maddox is pretty great. Just throwing that out there.

Honestly it was for both companies. Unfortunately for WCW main events have have the most impact when when it's all over. No matter how great Dean Malenko would be you remember Jay Leno vs Hogan the most.

1- You keep saying "We". Personally I don't care so we isn't applicable. Not only that but without the sponsors the WWE doesn't exist. They get a significant amount of money from them. They are a business and that makes money. Simple as that.
2- The NWA is hardly relevant in 2013. As for TNA yes they're out on the road. If they can make money great. That said they're a distant #2 and thinking different is crazy. As for CHIKARA to gain traction they would need stars the people can get behind, good television and good promotion. Going from an indie fed to a national promotion is a massive leap. ECW couldn't do it and they were around during a time when wrestling was hot. RoH has tried and they were more relevant in 2006. Could it be done? Absolutely but it would be a massive investment.
3- This is a joke right? Why would John Cena, second biggest star in professional wrestling today, go to TNA? They don't have the television exposure, they don't have the name brand and they don't have the money to even consider getting Cena. Seriously he'd be an idiot to even consider an offer let alone completely burn bridges with WWE.
4- And Cena bled in his match against Brock. Why is this memorable? Because it doesn't happen often. I find the whole 'stop the match to close a cut' thing ridiculous but it's memorable. That's why blood wasn't a big deal in ECW, it happened every show

1. Sponsors are money. You need money to get TV time, arenas, pay the boys, etc. Sponsors are the lifeblood of a company, fans come and go.
2. NWA, as good as they are getting now, are nowhere near where they were back in the territory days and it'd be extremely hard for them to make it to that level again. Chikara, as much as it pains me to say it cause I love those guys, are a niche group, similar to ROH...some will love it, most won't know it even exists.
3. Cena, if he did such a thing, would cause such a shitstorm of legal issues, Cena would lose more money than he's ever earned in the 10 years he's worked with the WWE. That and the 90 day no compete clause in every WWE contract would mean we wouldn't even see Cena on TV for 3 months.
4. Blade jobs are good only if they drive the overlying story. If you're in a cage match, something caused the two of them to step into the cage...and this is the blowoff, so blood is almost expected. I'll never bleed intentionaly unless someone pays me for it and it fits into the story...it's my face after all!

i loved lots of their wordplay names. funnily enough it took his death for me to finally catch on to "paul bearer" my other favorites were henry o. godwinn and phinneas i. godwinn. h.o.g. and p.i.g.

I didn't figure out the Godwinn wordplay until much later. As a kid I just figured "Phineas? Must be a farmer name" and moved on. Another "as a kid" thing, I was a fan of Aldo Montoya. Not because of his wrestling or his outfit or anything important like that. Why I liked him? His nickname of "Portugese Man-O-War" which I thought was insanely cool.
