i gues this should go in tv /entertainment(it is entertainment on tv). i dunno if there is a thread for this. but here we go.

i noticed a lot of fans here. is anyone going to mania this year?

I stopped watching around 2005...as it started to suck after 2001 and kept going down-hill. I love the 80's and 90's of course.

oh the 80's and 90's were the best! but mania was in my area and of course i hadta go to fulfill the whole childhood thing.

87 to 92 was the best time for the WWF imo. The Attitude era was good, but I think it ruined a lot of things in wrestling.

i loved the goofy characters of back in the day. i mean, wrestling garbage man? sign me up.

Jake "The Snake" Roberts is my all time favorite.

Awesome on the mic, pretty decent in the ring, awesome theme music, the DDT, and of course...Damien.

I watch a lot wrasslin'. But I've never been to a show in person because I prefer the televised drama of it all. I even watch indie stuff from time to time like Chikara.

His feud with Adrian Adonis was great.

And when he wrestled Bad News Brown at WM VI with half of himself painted black, that was ummm...I don't know what to make of that.

Not going to Mania but went when it was in Phoenix a few years ago. Totally worth it for the experience. Missing watching it this year due to work which sucks. I am actually excited this year. Mainly for The Shield and the surliest man alive, Brock Lesnar.

Been to two WWE shows in PA: A house show and a Raw airing.

Let's just say that upon meeting Al Snow, I fucking marked out.

Right now, TNA's better than WWE. Say what you want about them but at least Bully Ray actually shows up on TV every week as champ. They don't rely on cheap heat. They don't pander to kids like Vince does. He fucking turned his back on us Hulkamania and Attitude era marks! KIDS RUINED WRESTLING! Nor does TNA waste their time plugging shitty movies and apps. They focus on storylines and wrestling matches.

And don't forget this guy:

Ha ha, that was great. Didn't Austin throw one of Pillman's bodyguard guys into a kiddie pool? And he slammed a car door on another's head?

Yes! And one had like the biggest mullet ever!

1- Honestly I find TNA to be pretty insufferable at this time. Not because it's bad but it is terribly boring.
2- When Bully Ray has the same commitments as The Rock, holla at me. As it is The Rock is doing the WWE a favor at this point.
3- Attitude Era is terribly overrated. Look The Rock, Austin and McMahon are great. DX walking out in blackface? Beaver Cleavage? Mark Henry sex fiend? There's a lot of shit stuff we tend to forget.
4- When you say pandering to kids do you mean the whole "TV-PG ruined wrestling" argument? Because that was done to get better sponsors more than anything. As far as I can tell it's smart business. Also you can still write a good show with a PG rating the WWE just happens to suck at it for the most part.

I'm not a mark for the WWE. Hell I'm more of an MMA fan than anything else at this point. But I find your arguments a bit silly.

Surprisingly enough, I talk to Mike Quackenbush pretty often over twitter, and I'm going to work a show with DOC (Luke Gallows) and Knuxx (Mike Knox) from TNA in May. I've worked with Tommy Rich, Prince Iaukea (who is not a favorite to be honest), Buff Bagwell, and Phil Shatter before.

As for 'PG ruining the WWE'...look at the people in the crowd and the folks buying merch. How old are they? Wrestling is inherantly a buisness for children, as children tend to get their parents to buy a shitload of merch.

Hey the 80's was pg and it was pretty fun. It can be argued that the attitude era and ecw ruined wrestling. Chikara is pretty cool. I trained with a bunch of their guys.

Yes. They were both really good when they were happening...but the after effects are horrible.

Monthly PPV's and 2 lives shows a week. No wonder they're dried up creatively. Nothing is special anymore.

Back in the 70's and 80's Andre the Giant had a huge mystique about him. If he were around now, he'd have jobbed a million times on RAW and nobody would care about him.

I loved it when "Survivor Series" had the teams. I would say this team was the most bad-ass for sure:

I think TNA is doing something interesting nowadays. I do have to give it to them for the fact that they give the women some time to actually, you know, wrassle. I'm all for pretty women on TV, but I like to see athletic women doing athletic things to.

Case in point:

(Although, I think both companies missed the ball on this one)
