I heard that the writer's guild have more power in Hollywood than it seems. Once a writer is in a contract, it's super difficult to simply fire them. And even if they do not have a contract that protects them, it super easy to go on twitter and say "I was fired because of the misogyny/racism on this company."

It certainly would go a little in explaining how the fuck Batwoman ever happened for three seasons despite its own lead actress noping right the fuck outta there following S1.

That said, it's not so easy to hide behind simply not understanding what the show is about - the script literally has references to Mojo Jojo using the Dog Totem twice in the cartoon. To remember that he did it twice, or moreover actually do research to learn he did it twice, means actually having enough exposure to the source material to not have any excuse to not understand it even in the barest sense.

This just follows the ever ongoing trend of Hollywood where people just take things and try to reinvent them, throwing in token homages, without understanding why they were popular in the first place.

It just feels like this is another front in the ongoing third wave feminism war where they're trying to inject their toxic culture into popular things and we'll be seeing this kind of shit until the current generation of show writers get the boot.

"Guilds" are just unions by another name. They thrive off of monopolizing a given trade and restricting access to it from others in order to further jack up wages during negotiations.

As you can imagine, just like unions, guilds are really bad for a society at large because they ultimately cost everybody, businesses and people in general, by putting a stranglehold on genuinely talented artists by making it illegal to operate without paying their dues (literally and metaphorically) and keeping shit artists in a job they are not qualified for, crippling business operations through creating unnecessary red tape, and simple corruption by charging way more for a service than it is actually worth. With these costs adding up, businesses struggle to expand and hire more employees.

Its no real surprise that unions and guilds were largely controlled by the mafia and other criminal elements (and in some cases still are). Not that the practices and end result of fucking over everyone has changed much since taking on more "legitimate" managers. Hollywood is the thrall of guilds and labor unions from writers to actors to fucking light operators. Its one of the many reasons that old school entertainment media costs way more than it used to, but no one talks about it otherwise they risk getting blacklisted from the industry.

With that said, I do have these questions. In the script, when the teenage power puff girls were about to get read to fight crime, they had this back and forth:

"Blossom: Come on guys. Lets just suit up and get this done

Buttercup: I'm not wearing that dress anymore. Its compulsory heterosexuality."

What the fuck did Buttercup say? What did it mean? Is she an alien? Individually, I understand those words, but when you put them together they just sound like nonsense. Beyond that, in what fucked up universe is Buttercup using polysyllables like this? Did discovering she likes vagina give her a boost to her intellect? She could have said "Nah, its not my style" and got the same point across: she's a girl who don't like to dress like typical girls. Simple.

And jesus, they made bubbles messy as shit in this version. She's talking about drugging flamengos and drinking cognac. Why would you right that in anything but a parody where you're essentially making fun of the cartoon characters?
