Police shootings in Murrkuh and BLM protests: The thread. - It was a good thread, it dindu nuffin

Since it seems like this shit has been happening at least several times a week now for the past month, and separate threads have pretty much dominated this board for the majority of it, I feel it's time for a centralized thread on this sort of thing (apologies if someone already did this. If so, feel free to merge this thread with that one).

Up next on the plate, Chiraq has the potential to be dealing with more riots and unrest as footage from the police shooting of Paul O'Neal was released earlier today. Obviously, BLM has been all over this like flies on a dead carcass since the policeman apparently violated police protocol during the arrest. The only problems were that Paul O'Neal was being investigated for allegedly stealing a car (he was an 18-year-old in a Jaguar. Unless his parents were loaded, he doesn't have the equity or cash to buy one of those), he immediately sped away from police, crashed the car, and then fled the scene on foot before police shot at him.

Do I believe that police needed to shoot at him? Probably not. Did they have probable cause to suspect that he was committing a crime? Unfortunately, yes. This, to me, is just another case of BLM siding with a thug committing a crime instead of the hundreds people in Chiraq who are adversely affected by gang violence in the city.

On the other side of the pond, BLM protests in the UK blocked roadways and shut down airports and tram systems in Heathrow, Birmingham and Nottingham in protest of the five-year anniversary of the death of Mark Duggan, a man who was lawfully killed by police for planning a violent retalitory crime, was carrying a weapon and was an alleged drug dealer. What a saint, amirite?

This is the kind of shit I cannot stand, regardless of motive or cause. How many lives are you potentially risking with this kind of shit. What about emergency personnel? Good luck getting these people to move, especially if you're a firefighter or paramedic.

So yes, this isn't going to be over any time soon. Current year, indeed.

They won't riot over this. BLM seems to be weirdly Amerocentric.

That's not all that surprising, honestly. How utterly fucking ridiculous is it that there were BLM protests in the UK? I didn't even know there were black people in the UK; I thought it was just jobless Romanians and Muslamic terrorists.

There was a protest in Portland today. Apparently they passed some ordinance that BLM didn't like.
I missed all the good stuff but I did get to see a little bit of a scuffle. Apparently police had used mace earlier. Some guy who I think was a Trump supporter? was bothering a group of them, they got really mad about that. They were blocking trains and traffic, when I got there the riot cops were just leaving and after about 10 minutes protesters got back in the middle of the street and the riot cops came back and threatened to use force if they didn't move. All in all kind of uneventful but I think it's still going on.

How many were black? Also what was the ordinance?
Portland is the whitest city ever so it was like 95% white people. At first my coworkers and I were guessing what the protest was and I said it didn't look like BLM because there were so many white people. I'm assuming the people who got pepper sprayed were black though

Uh so it was apparently a new police union contract, not an ordinance, and the protesters were mad that the public wasn't allowed to voice complaints and also I think there was something about body cams people were pissed about. I had a hard time telling what they were arguing about. http://www.kgw.com/news/local/dont-shoot-portland-plans-tuesday-protest/333502605

Hey, that's actually more black people than I expected.
I had a hard time telling what they were arguing about.
Given it was Portland I just imagine a bunch of dudes in beards and horn rimmed glasses going "just because you're cops doesn't mean you get to tell me what to do, man!"

I thought unions were supposed to be a good thing?

There's a difference between public unions and private unions. Private unions dick over a particular company or industry. Public unions dick everyone over.

Edit: Well, and that doesn't even take organized crime into consideration.

It is very rude to refer to the african american economy as organized crime, please be more considerate of dindu feelings!

BLM has now found a new way to be unlikable. So a black kid is caught stealing from a store and two others beat-up the clerk and somehow the store and those involved with it are the bad guys. I don't mean to get into a rant here, but your race and post-election butthurt is no excuse to be a thug. Nor does your ancestors' pain give you an automatic asshole license.

Jesus Christ. BLM is a great example of why you don't give your movement a hashtag name. Keep your movement under adult supervision because if you don't, every Jamal, Jerome and LeShawn will be tweeting selfies of themselves spraypainting "fuk da polise, #blacklivesmatter" on overpasses.

The police report is pretty infuriating.

The campus chapter of Black Lives Matter, the Student Democrats, and the Oberlin student senate joined a protest of the store. Townies responded with a "cash mob." They flocked to Gibson's from surrounding towns to fill up on treats and groceries, inspired online by a viral "Gibson's Bakery Support Page," which Facebook took down after a flood of complaints claiming the local "cash mob" campaign perpetrated racism.

Apparently supporting a local business with donations is perpetuating racism.

$10 says the dindus are just mad THEY weren't the ones raking in the cash mob donations.

Show me a ghetto nigga who knows who his ancestors any deeper than "they was slaves to the white man" and I'll give you a biscuit. These people don't know or care about their own past, they just reference it every time they need sympathy.

Remember Occupy Wall Street? Hipsters camping out in the middle of rich areas are far more annoying than black rioters and looters who destroy what's left of their neighborhoods.

I read a couple years ago a black neighborhood in Portland killed a proposed Trader Joe's over fear it would attract white people and gentrification, despite all the conditions set forth to benefit the existing community. Meanwhile, when Walmart proposes building a store in a white urban neighborhood, opponents against increased traffic and decreased property values are labeled as racist. Double standard much?

Plus how many black Americans had ancestors from Africa that sold their family and friends to the slave trade? (I'm sure those ancestors "don't count" though.)
