Man I loved the delta species gimmick.
I already loved alt typed Pokemon but the fact that one of my favorite Pokemon, Flygon, got TWO Delta Species instantly makes those sets and Holon in general 10/10. Gamefreak could never treat him this well.

I don't really play the TCG any more but sometimes a buddy and I will use Untap to play it and we usually use decks made of just the sets that had the Delta Species because its just so cool.

that whole era was amazing artwise, some of the best art was during this time. I wish the tera gimmick wasn't just ex buildup spam, hopefully they make a comeback.

The idea of leaning into the fact the TCG's mechanics were a layer of abstraction from the video games' was brilliant. Now the TCG is so rigid that people come into this thread confused to why their blue Palpitoad card is weak to lightning cards.

So, in a treatise on how popular ZA has been, I had no idea that DLC came out for it. Man, there really are almost no good Mega designs from this whole affair. I already liked Mega Victreebel, Mega Meganium, Mega Chandelure, and Mega Drampa; but Mega Raichu should have just been Gorochu, and the three "Z" mega evolutions are all huge misses. Mega Golurk and Mega Golisopod are pretty cool.

The DLC for Z/A is supposedly pretty bad, so it's no surprise discussion died pretty quickly.

All you need to know about ZA DLC is gamefuck is comprised of petty vindictive dickheads and they made damn sure thier message came across load and clear

Also infinite offerings to the demon child

If they never give Flygon a Mega Evolution, then they can never ruin him.

Come onnnnnnnnnn!!!!!

MAKE HIM A BUG!!!!!!

They've already shown they're willing to tack on effects to make stronger signature abilities so they can give him something ridiculous like tertiary bug type on top of levitation.

Dragon/Bug could be an interesting type if it was done right. I thought for sure that's what Yanmega was going to be but it wound up keeping it's Bug/Flying typing instead.

Defensively it would be O.K.-ish. Outside of the usual Dragon/Fairy/Ice weakness, it would also have to stay away from rocks and birds. On the other hand, it can go toe-to-toe with Fighting/Ground/Water/Electric with ease and completely dominate Grass with a quad resistance.

Offensively, Steel and Fairy are the only two that resist both types (with the later being immune to dragon), so one more move that could take on both would be beneficial.

But the reason why they didn't in Gen 6 was, iirc stated in some interview, Flygon's design was already perfect.
I think what it was “ooooh we couldn’t make it because we got bad case of artist block” which is an absurd bullshit claim. This is the same dickheads who merely streched Starmie’s legs and called it a day

There's more than a decade between ORAS and Z-A and both games have different approaches to Mega Designs. Gen 6 wanted to revisit old Pokemon and improve their designs/performance with a not-quite-additional Evolution, Z-A just wanted to make torture porn of the mons it touched. I can believe 2014-era Gamefreak genuinely believed they couldn't improve on Flygon.

I like this video about the TCG on GBC because it likes to swing out towards problems that Pokemon fans had with the TCG, like how you can’t just play a deck of your favorites of various types and do well like the videogames. The modern game has that and while coin flipping is mostly not used, the card ratios and centering your deck around a main Pokemon with support Pokemon is pretty much a fulfilled prophecy from the Nintendo ex era.

TheKingNappy effect. Still has to be the most mainstream guy who fucked up the community.

What happened?
Fuck, when was that shit? Summer 2018?
I remember he used to be the big shit in pokketa monsta for a while. Then turned out he was texting minors in absolutely disgusting ways with the help of a fat bitch - who afaik got away with it anyway because she is a fat bitch -. Until one day a little girl made a video exposing his nasty texts and it was down hill since. This is the extent of my knowledge of the matter, i think he made a response to the whole allegation and it was basically “Nuh uhh”

I disagree
Many other “fandoms” suffered the same exact thing and they were the furthest thing from Pokemon.
If anything it’s more like “2020 and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race.“
