You ever go to a department store or electronics store where they have those big TVs on display and they are playing these short clips of now sense that are basically "oh wow look at the picture quality of this tv!"?
It's like that, but on your home TV which isn't as good as stretched to an hour long episodes with a little bit of plot sprinkled in.

It's a remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers and other similar movies. But padded out over nine episodes of television. When its story could be told in probably one episode or one movie. But with another season or two it will now run over twenty hours potentially. This is how lots of shows and movies are done now. Take the Hobbit films and bloat them into a giant trilogy for instance. Then make an Amazon LOTR based on almost nothing but the IP. The selling point is the IP and the spectacle. And for the studios the bloated runtimes and ability to sell triple the tickets or extra weeks or months (or years) of streaming subscriptions.

There are lots of movies and shorter novels that are made into television series (with many being canceled after the first season). Pluribus gets lauded as some genius original concept and story. But it's really just Invasion of the Body Snatchers and Soylent Green dragged out over a dull nine episodes. With a marketing campaign based more on "This is from the Breaking Bad makers" than its actual story or production. Almost every article about Pluribus in the media reads like a public relations piece more for Vince Gillian or Rhea Seehorn than something promoting the actual show. It's like Gilligan and Seehorn are the IP and Pluribus is the 'emperor's new clothes' that everyone has to praise them for wearing.

And this type of show is the favorite for reddit morons to laud. The mystery box style with beyond obvious plot twists. So that the audience can upvote each other over kindergarten level plot twists like people being used as food or fertilizer or energy (Soylent Green, War of the Worlds, The Matrix). The show is a safe and boring acting vehicle for Rhea Seehorn with nothing else going for it.

The only reason this show isn't total garbage is because of the era we are in, where there is so very little television being produced that is even watchable. If this was a show from 15 years ago or more I wouldn't even consider watching it, but now the bar is so low that it's not that bad by comparison. Thanks hollywood!

Nah, I think the individuals are still in there, but they've been rewired to feel happy about what's happening to them and had their executive function suppressed in some way. It'll be a combination of neurotransmitters and direct stimulation of the "happiness" parts of the brain.

There's no sustainable way to live on milk and human corpses, so you have to assume it's going to drive the human race to extinction within a generation or so at most. One thing to remember though is that VG likes his main characters to be kind of rotten people that end up being villianous in their own right. I remember during the first 6 or whatever episodes redditors were falling over themselves to shit on diabetes for his fuck harem and signalling to each other what a creep and rapist he is. Then Carol fucks her slave chaperone and suddenly it's all about nuance and really no big deal she's grieving you can't blame her etc. I definitely see VG having zosha or whatever the fuck her name is be freed at great effort by Carol who is expecting her to love her and be eternally thankful only for her to express her hatred to Carol for raping her every night for the past however many months and (given that they both curiously refer to her previous lover as "they") probably reveal she's not even a lesbian just to drive the point home. Which will set off a glorious existential meltdown from said redditors. Might even be enough to make the hive turn on the show.

Or maybe I'm wrong and the character really is just a vehicle for VG to get into Rhea's panties and win awards and she'll be written as the hero for the rest of the series.
