This is why I despise the show's godawful pacing, what was a very interesting premise was wasted by a lot of padding for no discernable reason, and it feels like we are only in the middle of the season, about 4 or 5 episodes in any other series.

How the hell did they forget that seasons are supposed to have its own self contained arcs and narratives that pay off inside it?, these are the same people that worked on BB and BCS, which usually executed their seasons and story arcs right.

You ever go to a department store or electronics store where they have those big TVs on display and they are playing these short clips of now sense that are basically "oh wow look at the picture quality of this tv!"?
It's like that, but on your home TV which isn't as good as stretched to an hour long episodes with a little bit of plot sprinkled in.

Show makes some very interesting writing choices and has pacing issues to a degree. Pluribus isn't entirely awful by any means but the story better be stellar in the grand scheme of things because hive minds have been done to death in media.

whats the point of building suspense when hardly anything notable actually happens?
To me it's hilarious to see this criticism directed at Vince's shows, when I'd argue it's the only one where anything happens.
Yes, they are very slow, but things do happen, just very slowly and sometimes subtly. At times, he sets up a scene to convey a particular analogy or metaphor, which only becomes clear later. Rewatch Better Call Saul, and notice all the seeds he planted in episodes where people believed nothing happened.

And now take any other show. Most of them, all you need to watch is the first and last episode of any season and that's it. Everything in between is filler and if you didn't watch it, nothing changes. In fact I have done one such experiment with a cobra kai season, watched first and last episode and felt like I missed nothing. The same isn't true for Vince's shows.

The thing is, with Vince you have to see everything as a character study, and thematic expressions. His team is composed not by event-centric writers, who try to make an interesting set of events, but by thematic or character-centric writers. Watching it as any other slop is like trying to watch Kubrick at surface value.

this show isnt insteresting because the core character is a dyke in the mids of her midlife crisis. add all the scifi shit on top of that but the character is highly unlikeable.
Sadly, however, I can't argue against this. Carol as a character took a downward spiral as soon as the end of the second episode. She's unconsistently stupid, smart, cunning or naive as convenience dictates.

Most of the notable events comes from what the character might do beforehand, Carol is frustrated that the hivemind has taken over. We are never shown the world around us, or the takeover, only how Carol deals with the loneliness that comes from being the last of her kind. Sure there isn't a lot of things happening but every episode, you learn something new.

I find this comparable to some lolcows we have noted here, they are always doing nothing notable for a long time until they get featured. Its suspenseful for what these people are doing in the meantime.

I just got to the episode where they cliffhanger in the produce warehouse and it's been kinda slow and mid so far. Between Braindead and Pluribus so far I prefer Braindead

Just binged the season. Carol ends up being a horrible self-contradictory person. She despises the hive yet is clearly in love with Zosia by the end of episode 2. It makes the entire arc of the season non-sensical. She is no better than Mr. Diabete and Laxmi. At least they’re honest about themselves and their desires. Manny is the true hero.

The John Cena cameo sent me.

I think it makes sense when she's a lonely grieving widow whose only human interaction is with a polish woman whose brain was hijacked by an alien virus. The hive admitted that they picked Zosia to be Carol's personal servant because she resembled the man from the covers of her book, which I took to mean that Carol wanted to write that character as her ideal woman. That's just headcanon at the end, but it makes it make more sense to me.

And as it goes on, it makes more sense how she gets more attached. Her wife's gone, who was probably the only person she had in the world that understood Carol enough to suffer her, the things that are responsible for her wife's death dangle a hot woman in front of her like cheese on a mouse trap, and none of the living humans, as far as she knew, could relate to her desire to see things go back to normal. She has committed the same sins she accuses the others of, but I think that's the most human part about her. She judges because, who else is left to judge? Yet, no man is a rock.

I wouldn't have a problem with the "show is too slow, nothing barely happens" if it was a 14-16 episode slow burn that ramped up toward the end and we could expect season 2 in late 26. But with 8 episodes and a 2-3 year gap before season 2 I find myself just not giving a shit, even if I largely enjoyed season 1 so far, the fact that it's now over without accomplishing much of anything has diminished that enjoyment. Or put another way if this was the first half of season 1 and we had 8 more episodes to go I'd be all on board. Instead I feel like I watched a quarter of a story that abruptly ended with no satisfaction whatsoever.

With 8 episodes and a 2+ year gap you can't do cliffhangers. Every episode needs to be tight and basically it's own condensed mini movie with its set up and payoff. I have no problem with Vince sucking his own dick in terms of plot and story, he's earned it after BB/BCS. But his decision to indulge in that while also only doing a handful of episodes every quarter decade is retarded and is going to kill his own show. No one is going to give a fuck or even remember that Carol has a nuke by the time 2028 rolls around and we get season 2 premier.

This nigga vince always pics up the most man-faced unlikable blonde cunts for his cast and makes them act like a bitch with an attitude problem only so his legions of media literacy redditor faggots can call you a misogynist for saying its overhyped

And 3 years for a new season? is this the venture bros?
