Well I have a hunch that when it comes to slow ass downloads (100kBps), RapidGator doesn't pay for that bandwidth.
Yeah RG is basically a debrid service, but all of the like minded services I have a feeling are in kahoots with one another to milk as much money as you can out of the people who don't know better.

They finally stumbled upon a working formula. Nuking torrent sites was always possible for several interlocking reasons: there were only ever 1 or 2 dozen worth a shit, even in foreign countries diplomatic/extradition pressure can be focused on them until they fold, the torrenting community's insistence on obsolete technology.
Vimm's Lair is also another one that's popped up in this thread. It's got throttling though, but not really an issue when you only download it once forever.
Multi-faceted answer, tbh. First, it's harder to find reliable infrastructure to host this stuff, because most countries cooperate with the copyright cartel now (so any host you use will just shut you down and narc you out upon receipt of the first complaint) and those that don't are flooded with scammers and con artists of all kinds (so any host you use is just as likely to steal your money and run as actually provide good service).
A guy in my warehouse at work still brings in a bag of bootleg disks every Friday to hand out to people which I think is great. The warehouse workers love it. Its like a ghetto Blockbuster. He has camrips of stuff in theaters and popular tv series on streaming services. He either gets them from the flea market or burns them himself. He lets everyone pick 2 a weekend and you just swap out what you have with him each week to let other people have a chance to watch stuff.

The comparison is to issues keeping platforms up. Pirate sites have to navigate around copyright crackdowns and hosts all to willing to rat them out. Loli sites have similar hosting issues while though the crux of their problem are advertisers and payment processors.
No, they'll keep doing the same shit for a few more years and endure a few more busts before one of them finally gets wise to the pattern and does something innovative to stay online, like Pirate Bay did. Laziness is part of the pirate culture, for better and for worse. Innovating is hard, or at least not compatible with a lazy mindset.
