Phil wasn't in the shelter, no one was, it was closed.
But the lie gained traction, poisoned his asspatters against him and brought Phil to the attention of people outside forums like these and made him an example of all the fears women may have about transwoman in female spaces. Terfs loved this shit and even Cathy the great used the story as an example to support her cause.
Phil could have done damage control and admitted the lie but decided to ride it out and now shit that didn't happen is something he's best known for outside being a walking meme.

Phil didn't admit it was a lie.
Basically it was kiwi detective work, I just simply checked were Phil was tagging himself and checked which shelters were open and waited for Phil to fuck up ) the shelter Phil claimed to be in is only open certain times of year and that wasnt one them. An online check confirmed zero occupancy and a phone call confirmed it was closed. A fellow kiwi (not sure who...sorry) then confirmed the findings.
Phil was actually staying in a motel so couldn't admit the lie since he was begging for asspats and pity bux claiming he was sleeping on the floor and had suffered abuse from a brute male, he couldn't really admit that the worse he had really endured was a motel bed and no complementary WiFi.

Hey everyone, I need help paying for all of my September rent. I am in serious danger of losing my housing!

Here's the situation - The Social Security Administration is being an asshole to my partner with her disability review paperwork , if my partner does not get paid next month We are both in serious risk of houseless - Vikki and I can't be houseless. Social security is making veiled threats to her benefits while awaiting information to complete said disability review paperwork as well as giving contradictory information in regards to their own processes.

Neither I nor Vikki can be houseless AT ALL. The political climate in the United States is deteriorating rapidly and last night I had to chase a white supremacist out of my apartment complex for trying to take photos of the front of my apartment.

Having to deal with this violent incident last night and hearing the news of Social Security threatening my partner's benefits is too much for me to handle - Rent and utilities are split roughly even between us - I will need $350 within the next 12 days so the both of us can stay safely housed.

The last I heard the situation was this
Toren is elsewhere partially but crashes with Phil for a set amount of nights a week so it's not effecting Phil's lease and he doesn't count as a resident. Not sure if Toren is in a shelter, cheap motel or crashing with someone.
However I was also told Toren is basically still living with Phil and just nips out for inspections and claims to live elsewhere likely because its embarrassing to be associated with Phil but mostly because it gives more reasons to e-beg.
It's tough to find any info on the subject since Phil won't even talk to long term friends about Toren and what the situation is.

That's my theory
When Phil and Toren teamed up and bunch of his tranny pals including Jane Wild tried to warn Phil what he was getting into. Phil ignored the warning and now regrets it.
My guess is Toren threatened self harm, to leave Phil or even reveal info on Phil exposing his many lies so Phil conceded and blocked his friends and sided with Toren.
I would say Phil recent facebook black out is Toren micromanaging him, making sure he doesn't post shit exposing their scam and even went as far as to write several of Phil's begging posts (some are clearly less rambling and more focused on feels rather than Phil's bragging about imaginery conflicts), true and honest Phil content only really surfaces when one or the other is away or Phil is out of the house on patrol.
