it gives off Arks 200gb extinction dome map and honestly it looks way better than it too, wonder if it will work the same way with diff temps and stuff like that.

unrelated but why the hell are ark dlc maps so bloated with 200 or above gigabytes it makes no sense that a somewhat small map should consist of 100+ gigabytes hell even skyrim isn't even that bloated and its HUGE for one map

Shitty optimization. I know that's a common buzzword these days but it's literally down to them failing to properly run their world geometry through any kind of process (automated or manual) to reduce complexity. You don't need a million triangles to make an acre of terrain look "organic" when even a tenth of that is more than adequate and hardware tessellation (something we've had for twenty years now and even the shittiest iGPU can handle in its sleep) can convincingly "invent" detail on-the-fly.

They've gotten absurdly lazy with this because both Unity and Unreal Engine (3, 4 and 5) optimize terrain streaming so you aren't stuck trying to cram a 100GB map into memory all at once (since you can't physically be everywhere all at once and ergo don't need to load it all for any reason), and SSDs make that nearly-seamless except on low-end equipment.

If these fucking retards could actually optimize their game data properly that shit could run smooth-as-silk even on a Switch 1 or a PS4. But nah, SSDs are cheap (well, they were until AI came along, lol) and making it work on old consoles doesn't sell new ones, so optimization is practically the last thing a modern developer things about when they're putting a game together.

Y'know, physical media had one other benefit that digital doesn't -- it forced content size optimizations. Either your shit fit on a 9GB dual-layer DVD or 25GB Blu-Ray disc or you groveled for permission to print a two- or three-disc set and bring a tube of lube with you to the meeting. Now? "lol it's 200GB but who cares?"

But does it run any decent? I had to cap my fps at like 75 to get something remotely stable at medium settings.

Grounded 2, a real game by a real studio, casually dropped an EA patch doubling everyone's fps, but seemingly no other company does that. I'm curious if the Daggys Dogmussy 2's "performance" patch in August will manage to improve anything. We truly live in an era of sub 60 fps on killer rigs.
Aaaand there we go: Away from cute, colorful and simple art direction to le edgy scifi final fantasy looking slop. God damn it.

There are futuristic weapons and armor in Palworld though, and futuristic stages like fighting Shadowbeak's trainer or his minions. I don't know what you're on about.

The sanctuaries were just two rock plateaus before this, an overhaul for them was long overdue.

Yeah, seeing the updated sanctuaries make me think “oh damn, I bet I could find some cool/rare shit if I can sneak onto the area property”.

The old one just looked like a place they dumped convicts on.

As 1.0 approaches have they made mods the lessen the survival/base building aspect? I kind if just want to run around collecting Pals and exploring the map
I always kind of wanted humans to drop equipment and weapons for the player to use or sell them to the player. That could keep you in the field more. A setup where I could just build a farming base for just making cakes and breeding, so I could sell of my rejects and buy guns/ammo/spheres would be awesome.

wouldn't that be too op for beginners? as well as cluttering up your inv? that should only be a thing for higher level humans and not lower-level humans
