"Overly Obese" Body Sets Crematorium On Fire In Ohio

A crematorium went up in flames when the excessive fat from an “overly obese” body caused the pyre to burn too brightly, according to local reports.

The owner of the Hillside Chapel Crematory in Cincinnati says the conflagration started on Tuesday night when the fire engulfing the corpulent corpse got too hot and spread to some nearby containers.

“My operator was in the process of cremating remains and (the body) was overly obese and apparently it got a little hotter than the unit is supposed to get,” owner Don Catchen told WCPO Cincinnati.

“One of the cremation containers that we had close got caught on fire and that’s what burnt.”

Firefighters battled the blaze for two hours and managed to save the building from any serious damage, Catchen told the TV station.

Crematoriums are fairly fire-resistant by design.

“The containers that we use — that we have to place the remains in to cremate them — that’s the only thing that’s burnt,” he said.

This isn’t the first time a dead body’s extra weight has caused a fire.

A crematorium in Austria was gutted in 2012 when a 440-pound woman’s body blocked an air filter.

As long as the thread is about what might happen when Barb dies, this might be the answer if the thread was about Chris. :alog:

Actually, they're great for cadaver labs in med school. You get to see what a lifetime of neglect/abuse actually does to the body.
when you pick cadavers for lab, you only go up to about three hundred pounds max. more than that and the students can't visualize organs and tendons, muscle. a larger body is harder to work.

so even then, it's only the rare time you'd use a portion (a single organ or anatomical section)
of one body) as an example of fat encapsulation in a lab. students wouldn't benefit from working on a bigger cadaver. they don't use them fit that- the requirements are about the same as a crematorium, actually.

wow what a legacy. A friend of mine who works at a crematorium told me their regular practice is to burn the fatties first to heat the ovens up quickly for the rest of the day. She probably didn't mean orca whale sized fatties though.

If this guy croaks it will be too bad he died before that pos Assanti.
