no lol it's one of the worst options. very unreliable, involves extreme pain and suffering, and takes forever, which means there's a chance that someone finds you and gets you to the hospital.

here's some more effective options:

1) gunshot into the mouth
upsides: kills instantly, almost impossible to survive
downside: loud, makes a mess, firearms may be difficult to acquire

2) lay down in front of a train, neck on track
upsides: 100% lethal, available almost everywhere
downside: train takes a while to arrive, leaving you with lots of time for second thoughts

3) jump from a very tall building or bridge
upside: nearly guaranteed to kill instantly, fairly painless, and your last moments will be very exciting
downsides: takes a lot of willpower to actually jump off the edge, also not every town has sufficiently tall buildings that are accessible to the public

4) hanging
upside: very easy to do no matter where you are, even convicts in prison can do this
downsides: pain and suffering

It's been said that "Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem".
If permanent means your entire lifetime then the cause of suffering may be permanent not temporary and the truth is we cannot say it is a permanent solution, as there are many failed attempts with devastating consequences for the person to tried it.
If we take a broader definition of permanent it is typically a terrible blow to those left behind, and may lead to the exact states of despair that cased the suicide in the first place. I would call that multiplying and worsening a problem not solving it.

The eternal consequences for taking a life that was not yours to take, that is something to fear, but as the Church teaches those who go through with it are not certain to be lost. Do not kill yourself, pray that God gives you the grace to endure each day and offer your suffering in union with Christ on the Cross.

It's a very tempting thing when you're at your lowest points but I don't view suicide positively in any way. Maybe if you're risking your life to save other people, fine. But Suicide is one of the most devastating conclusions to someone's life and those around said person. I've spent days something with crippling anxiety but I do try to find many ways on trying to fix myself. Thankfully there are still a wide variety of options to try. But every life is a sacred one (even if it's in the darkest depths of the left/right wing psychological warfare). When you let that sink in, you're existence is reasonable and is one to be respected so Suicide is the absolute antithesis of that.

You forgot about the other downside, being a statistic that is responsible for traumatizing train conductors by giving them a guilt trip from not being able to stop in time.
