For bands, even singular pieces of music that never took off or came to fruition. Generally bands that, for one reason or another never even got a start in the industry or were ongoing before being disbanded. Transitory bands included.

I'll begin with one I just discovered

Ache Hour Credo. Song is Give Fascism A Chance, this is one of the only high quality tapes I've found for the band.

You've got your smile and that's what counts
All that violence may just actually be setting us up to fall
Bullet holes used to shut your mind
You're too subtle now, you're too subtle now

Catatonic headaches won't pass
You just go on, cause I can't stand up
I'm trying to, but the air is all around

Bury my opinions well in broken books
Oxidated iron dreams
This vomit essay won't hold your bones together

This is not amusing
This is serious
What's going on?
What's going on?
Baby is unhappy
I'm so serious
What's going on?
What's going on?

12 feet off the edge of our love
Harmless, they just don't try me like better days
Like, gun to his pride, and all our fears
Won't have to pretend, we are not all
clear

Baby is unhappy
Baby is unhappy

What's going on?
What's going on?
What's going on?
What's going on?
This song is from 1995. It's so far ahead of the curve I think (1:53) (2:13) and onwards. I was expecting something completely different and even trashier sounding. These guys could have been huge in the later 90s and 2000s when it comes to emo at least. Refine the vocals a bit maybe, or keep them for the appeal.

Some more. My data is too slow to archive.

I know a few songs
This is "You know who you are" by a early 2000's emo band called All Rights Reserved. They played at a 2004 Wrap tour show once.

This is another emo song I think from the late 90s called "Souvenir" by Matt Dalton, It was considered lost or unknown until fairly recently.

H100s a hardcore band from the 90s

Deformity, Basically proto-deathcore from 1999

India by Circus Circus I only know about through Rock Band 2 Deluxe

This is a formerly unknown nu metal song called "White Trash" by Coexist made in 2001. This was found so recently i only found out the name of the band while typing this up.

Heavy Metal song known as "The Fall of the King / The Fallen King" artist is currently unknown. likely 1980s

Another unknown metal instrumental song called "Massacre"

'Ford' by Primary Filtration (1992) was unknown for some time.

Some of my favorite modern bands are vein.fm and their other band that's now the focus, Fleshwater.

However between that is a side project that's still pretty unknown and one I only discovered recently, the precursor to fleshwater, death.fm .

Flesh & Water

It is absolutely experimental and not nearly as good as vein or fleshwater but that's the fun of discovering it. A blueprint that would become fleshwater.

On a related note, some of Mirsy's older songs she worked on. The female singer of fleshwater.

Her best one and maybe her first collab with the band.

I hope these count then.

Veritas was the earlier project of all the band members that would later form the post-punk/noise rock band Women. This is mostly emo stuff I suppose, not too similar to what they'd later do. Not exactly my cup of tea but it's an interesting listen.

After Women broke up the bassist (Matt Flegel) and drummer (Mike Wallace) formed the band Viet Cong (now Preoccupations), and frontman Patrick Flegel went on to form two bands before doing the whole "Cindy Lee" drag thing.

Phil's Napsack (originally Fels-Naptha) was the first of Pat's side projects. The only release from them was a live recording uploaded to Bandcamp. There's a video of the band playing live too.

Androgynous Mind (named after the Sonic Youth song) was the other one, formed after Phil's Napsack. Much like the project before, they only have one release, an EP named Nightstalker. It consists of two abrasive noise tracks and then a few songs that more resemble his previous work with Women.

You can find good (interesting, maybe not good sounding) stuff browsing CD racks at thrift stores. I have a CD of 2000s indie bands that RYM types would have probably ate up if they had gotten popular.

They’re a Spanish band, but I love their sound, and they’re a band that doesn’t get mentioned very often when people talk about Spanish music from that era.

There’s also this other band, although I’ve noticed people mention them more often than the one mentioned earlier. These sounds are overshadowed by the frenetic or commercial sound that used to dominate the country.

A couple lesser known hardcore bands I stumbled upon a few years ago.
Based on their IG, Proxy are (were?) based in Texas, did a few tours around the state but went silent a couple years ago. They released a noisy demo and a split EP.
Cadaver Dog is a very raw solo project by James Trejo, who also played in a few other bands in Denver. He runs his own label, Blackout Rage, under which he released a casette EP as recent as 2023.

I got recommended on Youtube this obscure 1970's Canadian power pop band that kinda sounds like The Cars, although I can hear a hint of BTO in some of their songs. Anyway, get a load of that broad on that album cover -- you know damn well she's got an epic bush underneath that bathing suit:

I can sort of hear it, but I'm getting more Donnie Iris "Ah Leah" vibes.

Speaking of which, I just saw your long write-up in the Todd in the Shadows thread about one hit wonders, and I'm curious if the cucked hapa will ever do a video on Ah Leah someday. I used to hear it all the time on classic rock radio and never knew the singer's name.

All of Dave Wenger's music is pretty obscure.

Despite his rough singing his bands are all fucking amazing in some way.

Same singer behind Ache Hour Trio which I posted as the OP.

Here is Strangled World, by Daddy's Hands.

The woman singing with him was Emily Bauslaugh. It's a fucking tragedy what happened to them.

Emily died of an overdose in 2002. Dave Wenger died in 2006 in a hit-and-run accident.

Other bands with him are Breakwater and M Blanket.

Sounds really good if you're into the genre. Wish we had higher quality recordings.

Extra info I've tried to get.
