COVID happened, then Disney acquired FOX which lead Seth to leave FOX after all these years, the show moved to Hulu (and got a new title: The Orville New Horizons) so more delays, etc. I'm sure the season 4 will happen.
I watched two seasons of it out of spite but I knew it was gonna be shit way before that when the first promo images of the New and Improved Klingons™ showed up.
The Orville was better Trek once it got past the first few goofy episodes (which are still good) than any of the nuTreks were after two seasons. Paramount should be giving McFarlane a rimjob while shoving Kurtzman's head into a blender.
Imagine missing the point of that story arc.
You know, the funny thing about that, whether it was intentional or not, is that they made quite a nice mockery of the idea of trans. It's basically a retelling of the story of David Reimer.
The story arc was fine for one episode, but there were like three episodes about tranny shit, troons, and faggot klingons.

They specifically mention he was the president of both the Federation and Earth in one line which makes the whole thing even stupider. People keep saying that Star Trek is a world you want to live in, but I bet they'd change their minds if this shit is canon. I'm not looking forward to having my country ruled by a singular government that's also ran by an alien that wasn't even born on Earth and is a part of a giant consortium of other governments.
Disney bought 20th Century Fox a year before COVID hit (and even renamed it as 20th Century to not be associated with the Fox TV networks a couple months prior to said COVID).
The Orville is the best Star Trek show since the 2000s. Say what you will about Seth McFarlane, but the man is a life-long Trekkie, and he knows what makes for good Star Trek. The tone is somewhat different, trying to blend a lot more humor in, but at its core, The Orville is a show about ideas, which is what good episodes of Star Trek did best.
Seth is a proven long-time Trekkie for eons, and despite what anyone feels about Family Guy (and honestly American Dad is still way WAY better), but the man knows his Trek lore much better than either Jar Jar Abrams, Kurtzman or Orci.
