Well then lets not neglect who kicked off the feud between the three goddesses in the first place. Eris/Discord, who was spurned by not being invitedfnord by Zeus, instead delivered a golden apple from the garden of Hesperides to the party inscribed "Kalisti" meaning "to the fairest". This caused all three goddesses to claim it. They first turned to Zeus to settle it and Zeus, not being king of the gods for nothing, decided he wouldn't touch this one with a 10' lightning bolt and summoned a prince of Earth, Paris, to decide.
So really, it was Eris what done it all.
You can also see the mindset that just takes "subversive" as an inherent positive word. I don't want The Odyssey subverted. I like the original. The original is good. But these people always read "subversion" as intrinsically good because their goal is to break down social cohesion. They fear social cohesion, I think.
