I think Spiderman makes a ton of money its first weekend. It's gonna have the millennial manchild and the teen audience on lock for the weekend regardless of quality. Not sure how much it will take away from the audience for Odyssey as I don't think they overlap. After that, if it's good, it may have legs for a couple of weeks. If it's bad, well it will drop off like every other Marvel movie has in recent memory. I'm leaning towards it is going to be good enough and fun, which will keep summer audiences showing up.No one predicted a 50% drop.
Everyone said it will have two big weeks.
Now if Spider-Man dies next week it will make money.
Both are summer event movies, really THE summer event movies for this year. But they have different audiences. One is going to skew older, who are probably not interested in Spiderman. The other is going to skew younger, and probably not overly interested in a dour drama that clocks in at 3 hours. Besides that younger audience has all that cash from not seeing Supergirl that they need to spend.
