Nintendo has replied to a request for non-binary Pokemon, saying it would be “awesome”.

As shared on Twitter by the user Slate, their child wrote a hand written letter to Nintendo to ask them to include non-binary Pokemon.

A response came from Liz Daniels, consumer service representative at Nintendo of America

“I think that is an awesome idea,” reads the reply. “There are so many varieties of Pokémon, so it would make sense to have a variety of genders as well!

“We want to make sure people of all kinds feel welcomed and comfortable while playing our software. I’ll send your feedback to the appropriate departments to review and thoughtfully consider.”

Slate also shared images of the letter as proof against “all you doubters saying a kid didn’t write Nintendo asking for non-binary Pokemon”.

Although the first games in the series had male and female Nidoran, gendered Pokemon were introduced in full in generation two.

From then on, gender became an integral part of the game due to the breeding mechanic to spawn new Pokemon.

However, there are a few monsters that remain genderless, such as Ditto, Staryu, Voltorb and the legendary Mew.

For human characters, though, Pokemon’s first non-binary character was Blanche in Pokemon GO, the leader of Team Mystic.

Initially Nintendo had avoided using any pronouns for Blanche, but a blog post later used the pronouns they/them.

Fans took this as an indication that Blanche is non-binary. They also wear the colours white, blue and pink, which could represent the trans flag, with Blanche meaning white – the non-binary part of the flag.

Whether Nintendo and The Pokemon Company take this feedback on remains to be seen, but we certainly hope their response is an indication of becoming more open to progressive themes.

It's too perfectly sloppy. The randomly misaligned words, the fact that the sentences are missing words yet "non binary" and "Nintendo" are spelled perfectly, and the upside down paper for a second part to make it look like some unorganized rambling thoughts are all telltale signs.
And that tweet "to those of you that don't believe that a child could write to Nintendo" is really drilling it in that it's all made up bullshit. I hardly believe that they even have children, because who would knock up a gender-confused woman-child that's still obsessed with Pokemon unless by complete accident.

Fuck, my handwriting is messier than that. Also the paper has random creases straight across for some reason. I barely believe that it was even sent in to Nintendo and not created last minute to disprove the haydurs.

Nah Gardevoir still has a 50/50 gender split. Only males can evolve into Gallade with a Dawn Stone but either can evolve in Gardevoir via level up.

You sure you're not thinking Azurill? It was also Gen 3 and had a 75/25 female/male split but it's evos had 50/50 so a few females would suddenly evolve into males in those games. It was fixed in Gen 4 I believe.
No, I just had my plantfu facts wrong.

For the love of shit, don't touch pokemon.

As many others have already mentioned there's really no need. There are already certain genderless pokemon. Gardevoir has a feminine appearance and can be male or female, Machoke/Machamp females look exactly like male bodybuilders on steroids. Giant whales can mate with tiny kittens and even produce offspring, as can the aforementioned human-like Gardevoir with a giant smelly amorphous blob of sludge. The world of pokemon is already pretty queer from a modern standpoint.

If something must be done, just throw in a limited edition Pride Pikachu and be done with it...

I forgot that could happen with Azurill. There you go. A tranny pokemon.

I know it's already been said, but to drive the point home...
Some of these aren't generic blobs and shapes either, they are awesome cool looking legendaries. Hell, some of them can still BREED! It's what these progressive fuckers always cry about and want.

Remember folks, even in video games, its NEVER enough for these people.
Simply just being genderless is not enough (though I 100% agree nothing will ever be enough like you said), they want a Pokemon that looks like them. I know you mentioned generic blobs, and that's what most of the "non-binaries" tend to resemble, but they want a Pokemon that wears ugly glasses, has dumb rainbow coloured hair, and other hallmarks associated with these freaks, maybe even a hammer and sickle somewhere.

Take Deino and Zweilous for example, they came out at a time when emo was a big deal and Nintendo decided to make a Pokemon that appealed to the youth's contemporary sensibilities, which is why I actually believe it's possible we could see a woke looking Pokemon in the coming generation. The retards made ice cream, lantern, and key Pokemon, so clearly rock bottom doesn't exist for Game Freak.

You know one of two types of people wrote this.
1: a real kid who's been brainwashed by his cat lady mom into thinking he's a girl
2: some 40yo+ basement troon

Yeah I'm sure it's a totally real kid...

Member that time a woke 8 year old girl wrote to Hasbro because there was no Rey character in Monopoly Star Wars?

lol imagine asking Nintendo/Game Freak to make a significant change of any kind to the functionality or content of any Pokemon game. :story: As it is all they do for any given new release is swap out some sprites, change some names, tweak some numbers, and print the logo on a different color sticker to put on the cartridge.

They'd take genders away because Game Freak likes removing features, not adding them, unless it's the regional gimmicks.

Now it's been over a decade since I last watched or played anything pokemon related so I might be uninformed about the deep lore, but aren't pokemon animals? Isn't this like considering including a nonbinary cat or sparrow?
Yes. And there are pokemon without gender
Some of them are pretty cool like Shedinja, Rotom, Staryu, Metagross, and all of the legendaries. Except none of the common mon are animals, all object mon and it's not furry bait enough

i see the kids never touched a single game or seen a single episode of the anime.
Most of pokemon's "fans" in the modern day are in it just for the cute factor, the 'nerd identity' it gives them somehow, the porn or all three. They don't actually play the games or rarely do. So basically it's persona 5 but with animals.
