Disaster Newborn baby found dead in Amazon warehouse restroom trashcan - wagie wagie get in cagie

A newborn baby girl has been found dead inside a women’s bathroom at an Amazon warehouse in Phoenix, Arizona. Local police said they received a call from the Amazon fulfillment facility on Wednesday evening.

When they responded they discovered the infant inside a women’s bathroom on the premises. Local reports say that the baby was found in a rubbish bin.

The authorities confirmed that the infant, which appeared to be full or close to full term, was dead at the scene. A local medical examiner is working to determine the cause of death.

Police said they had located and spoken with the mother and are investigating. The mother is cooperating but her identity has been withheld by authorities, who have not said whether she is an Amazon employee.

"This is a terribly sad and tragic incident”, said a spokesman for Amazon. “We are working with local authorities to support their investigation. The safety and wellness of our team is our top priority."

Amazon employs more than 7,000 people in Phoenix across multiple different sites. The company has faced scrutiny over policies at its warehouses, following reports of unsafe working conditions.

Its facilities are typically tightly guarded and workers are screened upon entering and exiting buildings to prevent thefts or workers smuggling items in.

Police said that the warehouse remained operational and there was minimal disruption to the facility while they attended the scene.

Arizona has a baby safe-haven law which states that a person will not face criminal charges for handing over an unharmed newborn baby within the first 72 hours of birth.

afaik amazon has not yet branched into what we would now call human trafficking. A slave's baby is another slave for master.

A person working at Amazon is likely trapped in some kind of poverty and destined to have a child that works at Amazon.

Of course that isn't necessary because there is hoards of cheap labor available.

If it was DOA, I can see why she wouldn't want to deal with it. God only knows how many thousands of dollars the E.R. and ambulance service charge just to declare a corpse dead. And I'm pretty sure Amazon doesn't give "sick days", if it's not scheduled in advance, it's an unauthorized absence.

Maybe it was one of those really fat and stupid people who didn't realize they were pregnant until the contractions started. It has happened before.

Warehouse work is shit enough as it is but amazon just sounds like more and more of a nightmare. I kind of get searching your employees when they are leaving to prevent theft although i don't think I could work a job where I was treated like that. Plus they get searched on arrival to prevent smuggling things in?! Like that's prison level contraband control and honestly prison sounds a lot more peaceful and less stressful than amazon.

I always find it so bizarre how different companies control people stealing stuff. I went from working a place where the leads and supervises encouraged you to take the stuff we made home. To a place that would search you if you took long to use the bathroom now back to a place that just goes by the honesty policy. I'll give you a guess which place was the worst to work for.

What are the odds she tried flushing it first down a toilet first and when it started overflowing she tried stuffing it down the toilet with a broom handle before giving up and throwing it in the trash?

That's for phones. They don't want to spend millions of dollars on optimizing the design of the warehouse and then have the designs stolen.

I haven't worked for Amazon, but I have worked for a national chain that operates similar to Amazon. A few of my colleagues worked at a nearby Amazon warehouse over Christmas. None of them complained about the conditions. I think the stories about Amazon, and Sports Direct in England, are nothing more than media bullshit because Amazon is so massively rich.

Your performance is automatically logged because you're using handheld computer systems, but in my experience the work rates were fine. There were plenty of lazy fuckers where I worked who managed to chat around a quarter of the shift away so I'm not buying that Amazon are super strict with their numbers. If Amazon was as bad as the media claim then no one would work for them.

^Warehouse workers/package handlers are pretty well compensated for their work. They get paid holidays and even part timers can get benefits like paid vacation days(its like 3.5 hours but you don't get much work anyways). Some places even over student tuition reimbursement(basically do well in college and get paid back for it at the end of the semester). Not sure they could do much else. It's a physical job so there are obvious risks involved. Some is common sense stuff and others is not over exerting yourself. Perhaps places like Fedex and Amazon could offer their benefits(such as medical, dental, vision) sooner than 1000 hours worked because of the work required to do the job but idk most of the bad stuff I've heard about them(especially Fedex) seems to be mostly due to the specific place that person worked at. I mean some warehouses are prob more efficiently managed(and thus safer and less stressful) than others.

If the searching was like it was in airport security where you're pat down than I can get it being an issue but if they just check your bags and make you go through a metal detector than I don't see why that's a problem. I think that's actually pretty normal for places like Amazon/Fedex/etc.

I guess I've just never experienced conditions like that where the company is so large that it's impossible to micromanage and therefore have to adapt an overall policy where you can't trust workers due to constant turnover but I get it. I've worked in factories where you were told when hired not to take and share pictures inside but to take away your phone completely and going into one of these sprawling complexes which are easy to get lost and into dangerous situations in seems almost cruel. I'm used to jobs where I'd sometimes had to carry 3 cell phones for business, personal and often other employees, and was able to grab a smoke break when I wanted as long as it wasn't excessive. Maybe I've been spoiled mind you I was making 6.55CDN an hour at the time so make what you will.

Anyways I feel I'm derailing this thread so back to the topic.

Do you think that they only found the baby cause when the woman was having her evening pat down they noticed she was a bit lighter than the earlier pat down and then decided to check her entires day activities on cctv leading them to discovering dumpster baby?

And it's Arizona so the chances of her being Mexican and/or illegal are high from what I know of the area and it wouldn't surprise me they are supressing her identity due to the optics and politics of it. I feel like if it was a white meth head the mangled mugshot would've been up almost immediatly.

They don't take the phone off you. You know you're not allowed to bring them in so you leave them in the locker.

In an Amazon sized company the management will be super strict about you doing your job safely. If you are witnessed doing anything unsafe by a supervisor it's pretty much an automatic writing up. In one company I worked at you weren't even allowed to step on a wooden pallet because of the injury risk.

I cannot think that I ever saw someone have a pat down. If the metal detector went off they had a hand held detector to see what was causing it. I think if someone was suspected of having stolen something the person would be detained and a manager of the same sex would be the one to determine if they were carrying something. The risk and costs of sexual harassment is too high for normal security to do pat downs.

The blood and the smell will have led to the baby being discovered.

Unless she had convincing fake papers I don't think she'd be illegal. It's up to a $10k fine for each offence and massive companies don't want to pay that.

No matter what race she is they are going to determine whether the baby was still born or whether it was born alive and she killed it. If the baby was still born then I don't think the police will do a thing, and nor should they.

For a moment I thought this was the local high school prom with the kids tossed in the trash, toilets and dumpsters in those cases. Yay feminism! Ugh this is sad.

That sounds pretty fair. While I agree the mother shouldn't be charged so to say but i wouldn't be against an involuntary psychiatric hold just to determine her mental state over at least a few days. Out of concern first and formost. If she needs to be kept longer so be it but at least she could get connected to the support she needs.
I only brought up Mexican illegal as a possibility because I've heard of this sort of thing happening a lot before because illegal immigrants are afraid of going to hospitals to full out papers plus they're poorer and don't trust and so forth. I shouldn't have speculated racially like that I guess just I saw a comment on it on the previous page about it and i'll be interested to see the mothers circumstances in life if it ever comes out regardless. I hope she gets some help. Anyone who can disregard human life in such a manner obviously is very disturbed and needs help.

Call me whatever but this is one of the reasons I think small business is important. You can't keep track of a building with the 100s or a 1000s of employees effectively or at least humanly. In a company of 20 people or so this probably wouldn't happen with an employee for several reasons.

I love how they won't say if the woman worked at Amazon or not because of course she did, you can't access the bathrooms unless you have a badge to get through the turnstile,

Amazon hires anyone for wage slave positions, so long as your drug test comes back negative, so only certain levels of employees can bring in phones, nevermind that Amazon has videos on YouTube of the robots and of one of the warehouses, so I don't see the point in banning phones, when their supposed secrets are tested at corporate anyway and they release videos on them.

wagie babie dead in cagie
stillbirth or late miscarriagie
body left in bathroom bin
law enforcement now called in

I know a lot of slave labor companies in China and Africa will either fire a pregnant woman or force her to have an abortion. Does Amazon work like that?

Not sure what feminism had to do with this. Sounds like the mum was just irresponsible and callous.

They wouldn't confirm if she was an Amazon employee. She could have been an agency worker or an external cleaning contractor or something like that.

This seems like a really weird law. Like what do other states without this law do? What happens if a mother decides after a week that she just can't raise the kid?
