A newborn baby girl has been found dead inside a women’s bathroom at an Amazon warehouse in Phoenix, Arizona. Local police said they received a call from the Amazon fulfillment facility on Wednesday evening.

When they responded they discovered the infant inside a women’s bathroom on the premises. Local reports say that the baby was found in a rubbish bin.

The authorities confirmed that the infant, which appeared to be full or close to full term, was dead at the scene. A local medical examiner is working to determine the cause of death.

Police said they had located and spoken with the mother and are investigating. The mother is cooperating but her identity has been withheld by authorities, who have not said whether she is an Amazon employee.

"This is a terribly sad and tragic incident”, said a spokesman for Amazon. “We are working with local authorities to support their investigation. The safety and wellness of our team is our top priority."

Amazon employs more than 7,000 people in Phoenix across multiple different sites. The company has faced scrutiny over policies at its warehouses, following reports of unsafe working conditions.

Its facilities are typically tightly guarded and workers are screened upon entering and exiting buildings to prevent thefts or workers smuggling items in.


Police said that the warehouse remained operational and there was minimal disruption to the facility while they attended the scene.

Arizona has a baby safe-haven law which states that a person will not face criminal charges for handing over an unharmed newborn baby within the first 72 hours of birth.

There's a looot of noise going on inside those warehouses. The bathrooms are mostly located along the edges of the building where most people don't go (they like positioning people close to each other and not too far away from a "station", which are in the middle of the building) unless they're on one of their incredibly short breaks and depending on which bathroom she was in, it can be hard to hear people barking orders six feet away from you, let alone in a bathroom.

At least that's what I figure.

I kind of get searching your employees when they are leaving to prevent theft although i don't think I could work a job where I was treated like that. afaik amazon has not yet branched into what we would now call human trafficking. A slave's baby is another slave for master.
