What I don't get is his house has been on the line for what? A year? More? Surely he must've made preparations in case selling the house becomes his best/worst case scenario. Surely selling the house at this point wouldn't be such a bad thing. Maybe he'll take a loss, maybe he'll have his ego bruised. But it sounds a hell of a lot better than his reality atm. Begging for scraps every 2-3 months like clockwork, the apparent never ending stress he says he's under, so much so that he apparently hasn't been able to sleep for months on end.

Him selling that house might get the piss taken out of him more than usual, but surely the financial hole he's in will get better. The stress will become less, he'll have less to worry about. The idea of him keeping this farce going out of ego is just pathetic. You're really showing us Dave, we're all super jealous of this miserable existence you're living through. Is ego really worth more than peace of mind? Especially when what's keeping your ego going is something unsustainable and thoroughly soul-crushing?

Holy fuck it just hit me. What if his parents being sick is a lie? What if hes going to CT to fix up the apartment and get it move-in ready? What if hes bringing shit there to start the move early? What if hes gonna rent out the apartment again and wants to get it ready? If he wasnt such a liar this wouldnt be some mind rattling but man, I have a feeling the CT visit is not just for the parents.

If this is true, I don't understand why he wouldn't just admit to it. It's not like he's never changed his mind before. Why not just make something up and say "guyz, I found a real company that can rent my condo and won't charge an arm and a leg dood". I can actually make most of my money on the condo back.

If it's true (and I realize it's only a wild guess with no evidence), it's because DSP is one of those people that HAS to be in a crisis all the time. Not just to beg for money; he's just a drama king because he has literally nothing else in his life except drama. He doesn't even leave the house anymore AND he has literally no friends at this point outside Kat. And even Kat may be questionable.

Phil doesn't take any meds because the magical Seattle air has completely cured his back.

He claims that not having to do any physical activity has strengthened his back too. He said it is partly because he doesn't have to carry groceries up a flight of stairs anymore. I kind of wonder when he was carrying groceries up flights of stairs since the Connecticut condo unit is on the ground floor.

A roommate in the past had exactly this M.O.: I would end up lending him money at the end of the month regularly due to him nickle and dime'ing himself to death. He always paid me back but he was in a perpetual cycle of poverty b/c beyond giving me the ten or twenty bucks back he would live off of dollar menus and then go into the negative with literally the first purchase he made outside of food and the bills. Was DSP a single child? The ex-roommate was.

Like you can't even teach these people how to budget because they never have or will value that dollar they squander. I think this behavior boils down to that single child bullshit where kids that never have to watch their parents juggle finances to keep a sibling happy just end up placing zero importance on their own finances. In their childhood everything was magically taken care of: why wouldnt their adult life be the same?
