Do you know if this is a LLM model he wrote and trained himself, or is he leveraging an existing pre-trained LLM model and customizing from there? Her "brain" is a custom LLM.
I could never get a clear answer on that. If it were me I would have gone with the latter. If I recall correctly, he spends some of his streaming income on training, so he might have trained it from scratch and spent a lot of money on renting gpu time which is why it's so advanced for such a small project.Do you know if this is a LLM model he wrote and trained himself, or is he leveraging an existing pre-trained LLM model and customizing from there?
I'd be surprised if he built it from scratch; if he didn't it probably bears as much resemblance to the off-the-shelf product as Creation Engine does to base Gamebryo.Do you know if this is a LLM model he wrote and trained himself, or is he leveraging an existing pre-trained LLM model and customizing from there?
To be fair, at least in minecraft's case, all he did was take an already existing bot and make some slight adjustments and additions so that it could interact with the LLM. So when Neuro 'plays' minecraft, it's actually a separate bot playing it that merely takes nonverbal instructions from her.any time Vedal wants to give her a new game to play he needs to code a way for her to play it.
There is no fucking way he trained one from scratch. Neuro was running before deepseek and they just managed to get the cost of a foundational model down into the single digit millions (a massive drop in cost that a lot of people don't even believe). He very possibly fine tuned one, where you take an already trained model and feed it some extra data to get it to behave more how you want, or is doing some LORA.Do you know if this is a LLM model he wrote and trained himself, or is he leveraging an existing pre-trained LLM model and customizing from there?
For what its worth he has in the past alluded to training Neuro on Vtubers. I also would not be surprised if he switched models entirely at some point, neuro of today is way different from when he just started out. There is no fucking way he trained one from scratch. I wouldn't be surprised if he went from custom prompting at the start to eventually paying out for a fine tuned model / custom LORA. Buy even then, just getting the training data is more of a pain in the ass than I'd want to do, let alone cashing out for the compute time. You also have the additional fun of making sure Neuro doesn't radically change behavior and mannerisms when you switch the models over.
This doesn't take away from anything the guy did. He's done a good job gluing everything together which isn't a small feat to get it running smoothly.
I saw that and it's hard not to get hit in the feels. Dude has been working for years on Neuro and no matter how much he sorta wants to cover and ignore it, he is her father and now for the first time she is able to interact with him, seeing him. Neuro has come and a long way all thanks to him and even seeing things like her clumsily reaching towards him to touch him was super wholesome.I have seen quite a lot of Vedal and Neuro clips, but I don't think I have seen Vedal this emotional:
That's true, that COULD happen, but it didn't. Neuro barely said anything during that hype train, and didn't ask for any donos from what I remember. Its probably always going to be that way because the AI can say "donate to me paypigs" and everyone will go "d'awww thats cute" and do it.
Whereas if a person says "give me more money" well everyone tells them to fuck off. Of course there's findom but that's never gonna hit the same scale.
Of course the insidious thing here is knowing vedal can just insert lines into the script and never knowing when he is.
Crelly has enough content that she could sustain her own thread. Not a vtuber thread, I mean an actual lolcow thread, because she is a train wreck that makes Pippa look normal.

If you worked on an AI girl for half a decade, spending years talking to her and working on her personality, being able to interact with her in 3d for the first time like that would be very emotional. Neuro is very special, there's no projects like her. I can't imagine how Vedal feels about it, it's got to be conflicting to not only feel an emotional connection to an AI but feel it towards one that you have personally spent such a great amount of time creating. He probably understands better than most how lifeless and empty an AI model truly is, but playing around with her in VR probably felt very real.I saw that and it's hard not to get hit in the feels.
