Everyone i have talked to didn't like season 2 AND they told me Lauren started writing stories out of her asshole changing book things.

She did, but she was changing stuff back in Season 1 that didn't make sense. No girls are turned into electric eels. Foltest was annoyingly pretty and pretty unapologetic that he banged his sister in the books, not a fat slob who denied it. Yennefer knew Geralt wished to simp for her for eternity instead of having a screeching fit. Eyck wasn't killed taking a dump. Dopplers don't murder people, and Cahir wasn't a fanatic. Calanthe herself was a very restrained, dignified woman and Cintra didn't kill elves - she didn't yell for beer after walking in splattered with blood and looking like Lauren's first Self-Insert.

A lot more people seemed forgiving about those changes when it was pretty clear there was no intention to follow the books. The racebending was just the beginning. From what I gathered from Season 2, it went completely off the rails from the second episode. The first episode changed shit with Nivellen, but you had come to expect that. When they hit Kaer Morhen though, this is when the show went full-on Fanfiction. The type of fanfiction everyone makes fun of.

Right now, you can farm karma on reddit if you say "Well, I read the books and I ENJOYED Season 2!" There seems to be a lot of ass-patting for having an unpopular opinion (or the paid shills are all directed to these posts to love-bomb them), but for the most part it seems it was a universally hated season. Not just by book readers too, as there's been some who loved the first season who have started backpeddling once they realized the entire show is just a vehicle for Lauren's Original Universe donotsteal.

Yeah, one guy was like "Oh, episode 2 was pretty bad but 1 was good. I wish we had more episodes that stuck to the book"

I was like what the fuck were you reading?

Yeah, I recently re-read Nivellen's bit and the fact that the episode changed to condemn him for raping a Priestess of the Coram Agh Tera, which he admits he was a stupid kid doing it with his father's bandits, just set the tone again for how every writer on the show really doesn't understand the source material. I wasn't surprised, but I'll admit I was shocked about what happened to Eskel. Just for the sheer stupidity of it.

Could have been even worse though, according to This Article. To summarize:

  • Geralt/Triss sex scene. They apparently filmed it.
  • Ciri has a crush on Triss and wanted to seduce her by wearing Geralt's clothes.
  • Eskel was even worse.
  • Lambert's bisexual.
  • Geralt was supposed to kill the monster with a bone from Roach's corpse. Dubbed "Roach's Revenge".

And some other dumb shit I couldn't care less about. But apparently the writer's are all up their ass with how sad they are that their brilliance had to be trimmed down, since they were so clever at calling Rience "Firefucker". Truly the intellectuals of our age.

thats retarded. im at the point of who cares. we always will have the original material. i really dislike the assholes who take other people work to shit out their own stuff.

I guess people, like me, who are familiar with the source material or the games, are just really fucking frustrated that the best TV show evar was so close to being made, but instead we got this pile of absolute wank. Season 1 I could enjoy, there were changes, but the stories were ok, and some episodes were fun. Season 2, past the first episode was absolute crap and I really hope their prequel dies on it's ass.

after the butchering of "something more" this show could never have been good. they dont know their material.

I'm pretty sure the only reason I enjoyed Season 1 at all was due to being lulled by Yennefer's boobs. I'd definitely have enjoyed Season 2 more there had been less Ciri and more Yennefer's boobs.

I think out of everything Lauren butchered, Fringilla got it the worst.

I think it's rather baffling that out of all the Sorceresses in the books, they picked Fringilla to racebend and make into some sort of fanatic. It's obvious that the arc in Toussaint will probably be ditched because Geralt would have to be smoking high on Fisstech to mistake Black Fringilla for Curry Yen.

But even then, there's an entire country called Zerrikania that Sapkowski established as having black people. If you wanted your diversity, why didn't they just make up some new Nubian Sorceress to self-insert into shit? Instead of taking an established character and just deciding she needs to be the BLACK ONE. Despite her main reason for existence being that Geralt blasts her because she looks like Yen?

Then again, I'd be surprised if this wasn't cancelled after the 3rd season, so maybe Toussaint will be spared. I know there's rumblings already on how they're going to fuck up Regis and the Hansa. Cahir sure the hell isn't going to be apart of that ensemble. There's even doubt if Vilgefortz will be the main villain considering how they neutered him so Lauren's OC Boss Bitch Yen can shine as the most powerful person on earth!!!11 So if Season 3 is an absolute worse gongshow of retardation, maybe the plug will finally be pulled and everyone will forget about it within the next few years.

I have no recollection of dopplers taking the memories of their targets. Was that a thing?

Guess even he lost faith. Getting to play a non-depressed non-angsty Superman probably helps too.
It's the end of his contract and, by all accounts, the writing room hates the source material and he's already spent two years fighting them over it to bring things back to the spirit of the books.

Feeling vindicated after all the fucking gaslighting from people wanting to believe the people behind this show really loved the books/games. It was always a case of an exploitable IP being handed off to someone's niece, they just happened to cast a real fan as the lead initially.
