Why did Geralt never investigate whatever curse it was that turned Vesemir from a British Millennial Instagram influencer in Nightmare of the Wolf to a Danish dockworker in Season 2? Foreign Accent Syndrome is a real sign of cognitive damage that shouldn't be ignored.

Unfortunately, it's a huge thing. AO3 has a Ship Stat list that comes out every year and is posted on tumblr/reddit. Last year, Geralt and Jaskier/Dandelion was #5. Don't know what it'll be this year, but I don't really want to know at this point.

The Netflix show is what kickstarted that and it's sadly leeched into a lot of Witcher discussion spaces, to the point where I've seen the books be dismissed as just "lore" instead of the actual source material because, y'know. Not enough Jaskier being gay for Geralt or whatever. There's also a few Witcher Shipping discords but I prefer to keep my eyeballs and sanity in tact than to check there for lulz.

All I know is Eskel was apparently a fujoshi favourite and his Groot-Fursona did not go over well.
I am so sick of the female gaze and female sexuality splooging up all forms of entertainment my god.

Season 2 was meh.

Stregabor...why is this dude still here?

I don't understand the Hollywood fetish for adding their own 'twists' to perfectly good stories, like Vesemir thinking Ciri's blood would make more Witchers, instead of all of the Sorcerers who knew how to do it have died off and that the Witchers are slowly following them, victims of their own success.

Part of the point of the Witcher series is that politics of kings and sorcerers is more dangerous and deadly than many of the monsters that the Witchers hunt (Geralt's various failed attempts at neutrality).

Season 2 should have elaborated on Vattier de Rideaux (Nilfgaard Secret Service) building the Scio'atal and Shilard Fitz-Oesterlen laying the groundwork for Thanedd Island.

Was browsing the witcher subreddit just to see what the reaction to the new season was and somebody made a list of all the stuff that was changed from the books. So apparently in this season, Yennefer
kidnaps Ciri and tries to use her as a human sacrifice
and Vesemir
takes Ciri's blood, which he plans to use to create more witchers
. This is well past the point of fanfiction, these are basically just entirely new characters that happen to share names with the originals.

Sadly, everything is going to be fanfiction from now on. The fact that Lord of the Rings was as faithful as it was is a miracle that will never be replicated I think.

Instead of shipping people could just not be fucking horny/lonely faggots and just go with a Geralt that stays alone.

Yeah, but then how will you win debates on online forums over which is the best waifu, or write entire novels on why your choice was the best/lore friendly and the other side is just 'coping'.

I've seen this on both tumblr and reddit too, so both mentally ill girls and beta males really project themselves into fictional character's relationships to make up for their own lacking life. You can't even laugh at it when you see 3,000 word essays on 'Witcher Book/Show Relationship Analysis' posts because it's all just too pathetic.

I'll agree with reddit that Lauren Hisstech or whatever her name is clearly is using the Witcher property to make up her own story that wouldn't have been successful if under any other name. Pretty funny that these people know their ideas are shit, but they're so determined to shove it down people's throats they'll just take other franchises and "adapt" them.

This just reminded me about how absolutely bootytickled Mass Effect fans got when I would tell them I didn't fuck *anyone* in the trilogy.

Henry Cavill seems like the only person in Hollywood with any sense left in him

Why on earth would you want to inject humor into a death scene? God forbid you show some sincerity.

Sometimes I wish that Mistborn would get a tv adaptation, then I look at this dumpster fire and I remember that it's probably for the best that it never will.

It might just be clever marketing, but Cavill seems to be genuinely enthusiastic about the series and it must be absolutely brutal for him seeing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity get butchered like this. They should just let him write the damn show, it couldn't possibly be any worse than what Hissrich is doing.

Meh. Season 2 was ok for what it was. If you did not read the books or played the games or was in anyway invested or interested in the withcher lore it was ok. That being said it was surely a big WTF moment to the fans of the books.

This convinced be to finally buy the books. Just from reading the 1st one, it's amazing how much dialog netflix chops out to replace with made up drama/violence. I imagine the discrepancies only get larger from here.

my personal take why Season 2 has a lower audience score:

- Season 1 introduced normies to the games (and the books)
- they played the games and realized the show is shit
-PROFIT

edit: reminder Assassins of Kings is on sale
Well, that and Jaskier was only one to escape the plot black hole that was Ciri. The intertwining stories of season 1 are basically gone, and it took a lot of the flavor with it.
