To be fair, the level of competition at the Olympics is usually pretty damn good, which makes it for a compelling watch even for modalities that aren't paid attention to. What kills the interest (at least for me) is the excessive focus on identitarianism from the media outlets. More women this, trannies that, black folks here, refugees there, et cetera. The organizing committees also playing with this divisive horseshit just marrs it further.

Seriously... Just do your best and no less than that. How hard can that be? Now one can blame their failures on every external social adversity you can think of, and thus they can gain the same feel-good spike one can get if a medal is earned. That's just whomps.

Just see that this Raygun chick from the aussie breakdancing fiasco gained a shitload of notoriety and legit fans after whatever she did at the stage. She is literally the most talked-about thing about the breakdance competition, while the actual medal winners aren't even remembered without a quick Google search.
