"Mr. Miyamoto, I don't feel so good..."

So how long until someone uses "arbitrary code execution" to complete the game in 30 seconds? I dunno call me a cynic but this seems like a very, very niche "comeback".
The only way to optimize the times under ACE is optimizing the inputs/methods of altering the memory that will contain the arbitrary code that will be executed when jumped to. Right now there's a lot of room to optimize altering the memory and probably a little less for the actual movement and things that need to be done. It probably will be a very niche comeback. Eventually it'll get to the point of wrong warp WR improvements being down to frames, but Cosmo could hold it for a while with rapid optimization if no one else can figure it out as quick. I don't see it standing for a year though, but I'll be optimistic and give it a few months at best :optimistic:

Usually when it gets down to frames the TASers take over lol. Unless it's old NES games.

ACE in the old pokemon went from warping from the initial town, to warping from the house door, to warping from your bedroom to the ending.

I am awaiting any% warp from Link's bedroom.

Also awaiting detransition reveal lol.

Honestly when OoT was an 'actual' run and people cared it would have been a nice comeback.

But years later to get the record in a broken open code exploration catagory thats mostly cutscene and then forcing the game to break once is really anticlimactic.

It'd be like a halo speedrunner falling from glory and then coming back because turns out instead of a 2 hour (or whatever) run, he can pick up the pistol and jump against a wall at the right angle and it forces credits.

By that point, who gives a fuck anymore.

Salty speedrunner gets mad that Narcissa beat them out:

This kid is getting ~9:56 "WR" and is upset that Narcissa took the category. Very upset about the new ACE category, yet still runs it to try and get any%

The reason for the salt tweets? Contreversy over a potential physical notch on the N64 controller to control the angles for link during the ACE to prevent accidental deletion/crashes (unconfirmed if Narcissa does have a notch)

Instead of rage-tweeting, this dude could be slamming back Soylent, trooning out, contemplating suicide, and trying to better his time.

Is there a speedrun ruleset for glitchless playthroughs?

There are numerous speedrun categories for all sorts of things. "Glitchless" (which includes what the layman would consider glitches), 100% getting everything in the game, 100% No Source Requirement (everything in the game but you don't have to obtain each item legitimately, you can glitch items into your inventory), No Wrong Warp (you can't use the famous wrongwarp glitch).

Leave it to a community of autists to go feral at each other arguing over what rules should be set over who gets to be #1 in the world at beating a 22 year old video game. For the time being, the autist listed on the website gets to call himself #1. It's all a competition to feel important and say you earned a "world record" in the world by playing the same 20 year old video game over and over for 8 hours a day for thousands of hours so you can tell kids at a Magic the Gathering shop or at a Gamestop video game display that you earned a WORLD RECORD and you're the best in the world.

From what I remember, Narcissa also created ZeldaSpeedRuns a website dedicated just to speedrunning Zelda and having leaderboards on there. He abandoned it sometime after trooning out I guess, I don't really know the timeline, but if he actually continued to administrate it, he could have set the rules for what 100% is, "legalizing" the notch or rubber bands or whatever inane shit they're arguing over, but he just decided to give up on it and stop updating it. Now it's up in the hands of a Council of Speedrun Autists, whose identity remain a secret I suppose.
