I used to do a bit of sequence breaking back in the day but this just seems pointless
When we used to do it you'd essentially be finding ways to abuse the programming to skip to the final boss fights with minimal equipment

There's just no element of 'playing' to be found here

the point of any% runs is not to be enjoyable it's to complete the game as fast as humanly possible. how do people not get this yet. subjective factors like "enjoyableness" have no bearing on a category’s rules.

the same people who ask what's the point of playing a 20 year old game - people still play and watch 100 year old sports and it's a billion dollar industry. Arguably esports is more entertaining than traditional sports because of the variety it gives.
