So if they keep up that trend, Ravenous would describe Samus being as energy hungry as a Metroid, hinting that the Thoha DNA can't contain the Metroid DNA for long. Maybe the Federation deems her too much of a risk now and sends a fleet of the big brother to the EMMI, a more military designed death robot compared to the DNA sampling EMMI in Dread, and Samus has to hide out on a planet while avoiding the assassin bots sent after her, all the while she's becoming more and more feral.
energy consumption becoming a big issue isn't the same as being feral, and I doubt they will get rid of the Metroid DNA aspect, as that has been a sort of core thing helping Samus in the last games, likely she will just be searching for a way to stabilize her condition permanently

I think the issue isn't that Samus is a gene spliced suprahuman, it's the worry that Ravenous would toy with Samus being a feral gene spliced suprahuman, therefore losing her humanity even more.
Seconding this opinion actually. I could see the "ravenous" portion going two ways:
1. Either the weird schism inside the Galactic Federation coming to a head since Dread dropped a hint with the EMMI (perhaps a continuation of what was established in Fusion with their hunger for a capable bioweapon?) or ..
2. Samus gets some sort of new horrific ability (perhaps a set? Does the suit evolve to "higher" metroid stages?) as a result of the newly unlocked Metroid suit that she can put to good use.

It would fucking suck if they just made her feral in general because she's not a killdroid nor is she helpless, but she's ruthless when it's good and necessary to be so. Plus Dread had a few moments where the glowy-metroid-hand was acting up that seemed to imply (at least from what I saw) she recognized there was an powerfully addictive aspect to it, and still soldiered on since Raven Beak was a megalomaniac that had to be stopped at all costs.
Samus has to hide out on a planet while avoiding the assassin bots sent after her, all the while she's becoming more and more feral.
If the GalFed DOES become relevant again (specifically whatever group is fucking around and responsible for the suspiciously low bounty for retrieving the EMMI), I could see the conflict being less that Samus is feral (the new abilities could make it SEEM that way when it isn't actually the case, she's completely in control) and more so that the legacy of the Metroids casts a long shadow as one of the most terrifying predators that had to be rendered extinct for fear of their weaponization. That long of a struggle has staying power in people's minds.

Story-wise I can imagine a setup where the Metroids fearsome nature and the splinter GalFed group's word is set up against her. She is a legendary bounty hunter, and she's still fighting and adapting to the new suit (and whatever comes with it without slipping into mindless temptation), but the "feral" aspect is coming more from the paranoia and fear building up around her powers which ends up tarnishing her image and making people doubt their trust in her. I don't imagine that'd stop her from trying to do the right thing regardless, and ADAM's still with her and might help tie up the corruption plot that started in Fusion (assuming not all of it was rooted out by Dread, hence the EMMI). So, any leftover splinters of the GalFed group that was implied to have been investigated at the end of Fusion could be seeing this as a chance to "take care" of the problem that blew their cover in the first place, and that'd be what kicks everything off.

I'm more interested in new gameplay mechanics related to Samus' possible Metroid mutations rather than story. Will we have to absorb enemies to regain health or other resources? Will the parry be replaced with some kind of energy drain move? Will we get completely new Metroid related abilities? Maybe Samus will get new armor suites that are based off of the Metroid life cycle. There's a lot of cool stuff you could do by using alien mutations as a base.

I am a little worried Nintendo will play the "We cloned Samus and now she's escaped" card like they did with Other M and Ridley. The Federation LOVES cloning shit.

Something I wonder, the Metroids started metamorphosizing when they absorbed Aeon energy. Samus used Aeon energy in Dread. Aside from the Metroid instincts kicking in when she was near death, I wonder if the Aeon energy didn't also mutate her faster?

That's another thing, I would like a new faction besides the Federation or the Space Pirates.

The Space Pirates have never had a consistent design, motivation, hierarchy, or leader. The only thing consistent about them is that they clone metroids and don't like Samus. They usually wipe themselves out using the big bad at the end every game without Samus having to do anything.

They kind of suck and I don't like them except for the fact that Ridley is their leader.

The federation at least has characters like Adam (non other m) but it's about as shady as the Weyland Yutani corporation from Alien.

We need some kinda new thing that isn't just a once off alien race.

I’m just wondering who’s developing it. Given all the troubles and layoffs that have hit Mercury Steam, I wouldn’t be surprised if Nintendo went to a different team to work on it.

Also, the rating apparently also included “light sexual content.” Wonder what that is all about.

NINTENDOOOOOOOOOO! BRING BACK THE 2 PIECE OUTFIT AND MY LIFE IS YOURS!

I would like a new faction besides the Federation or the Space Pirates.
The pirates were completely absent in Dread and the Federation was only slightly mentioned. Hopefully that trend continues and we get some new factions. The few times Metroid actually tried having new antagonists that weren't the Space Pirates I think it worked really well. I thought Raven Beak was cool and the Ing are my favorite antagonists in the series, they're so creppy and alien, almost eldritch.

Is it me or does she actually look less sexualized in the two piece. Like yeah she has her midriff out but she looks sporty and more active. She looks like she can throw hands like that.
The original Zero Suit makes her look like she's from a spy movie, which is a very different style of fighter than she actually is.

agreed, the two piece gives her a sort of Tomboy/GitS look to her, its her best look but for some reason the Zero Suit lingers.
