Those big irons shoot real well in magnum calibers. Sometimes weight is a good thing in a gun, and with a proper gun belt to hang it off of the weight just isn't much of an issue at all.
They could just take a 1860 henry action and make it a pistol. that'd be the easiest way IMO.
If you're not slapping lights and lasers on it i don't see the point in a railed hand guard, and the accuracy penalty is not enough to worry about.
Night vision GMPG, spraying 7.62x54r in any lighting. Fantastic.
There's always Dragunov variants or the PSL but I don't think I've seen anything else chambered for it.
I do know of the Romanian PSL. Possibly a good future gun. I just find 7.62x54r very interesting. It's basically 7.62x51mm nato power wise, but it still has its rim and is actively used.
Don't quote me on it but I think CZ makes a hunting rifle chambered in it and before they were banned Baikal did as well again not 100% certain.

I haven't gotten to shoot a 54r, and despite all my Kalash posting I'm not really that into AK platform weapons. But fuck, I won't lie dude. I'd love to own a PKP or an SVD. The guns that use this cartridge are undeniably fucking cool looking and seem to do pretty well.
I guess it's neat, but it's nothing new really. Guess it makes sense they went the tacticool route since Browning and Winchester have the high end lever gun market on lock down.
I'm a firm believer in the one true caliber but this is just dumb. Why take a gun where the whole point is how compact it is and then make it gigantic with red dots, comps, and extended mags? Just remake the Beretta 70 ya jabronis.
