I mean a red dot would work fine for a optic. 38 out of a rifle is 9mm basically. 357 is 10mm in power. Use those solutions.

The Conann pistol did it. It was the recoil springs with it. I think a variable gas system with a valve for the user to switch between 38 or 357 would solve it in a rifle.

To steel man this, you can reload 38 way longer per case due to the low pressure. You pay more, but you get double the reload life of 9mm, which is at 35,000 psi vs 17,000 psi for 38 special.

Thing is, they're usually concentrated on red states or more rural areas of blue states so they votes don't count for much on national elections.

I have been CRAVING a M1 Carbine in .357 magnum forever. A rifle that can take deer, shoot pistol cartridges, and be used by anyone of any size or stature by nature of being tiny and small in form and recoil impulse.

Personally I can't fathom buying a bullpup anything. Whether or not it is worth it would depend on if you are set on a bullpup, and what else you already have. If I were to drop $1,600 into a carbine, I'd put it towards a quality AR first, but maybe you already did that.

But if you live in the hellscape that is California, the Steyr AUG is the closest thing you can get to an intact rifle that doesn't violate California's featureless nonsense. Yes, I know, don't live in California, get the hell out, but if you do for whatever reason; a normal AUG isn't gonna be butchered like a majority of other rifles.

sure, but there's a lot of weird stuff out there, but home built, one-off bespoke stuff, prototypes, limited releases, niche markets, not to mention all kinds of foreign stuff.

also in case people don't know, the M1 has been converted to a lot of stuff. the .45 Win Mag was imho unsafe with any non-factory load, but the .25 Win Mag was functionally a necked down .357 S&W Mag to .25 and worked quite well (and of course there are .22 conversions and 9mm conversion and so forth, Ruger's Model 44 carbine from back in the day only resembled one and was very different being a pump action).

to convert an M1 into something that could receive .357 S&W Magnum, you need a new barrel, increase the gas bleed valve for the gas piston, and add some mass to the recoil system either with a stronger action spring or physical mass to slow it down a tad. then you need to modify the extractor and ejector after enlarging the bolt head for the rim. the magazine can be used as-is. note that .30 carbine is actually a touch more powerful than .357 S&W Magnum owing to different cartridge design and powder charges, typically with a lighter bullet too.

it has been tried but it isn't straight forward or easier than building a PC carbine type gun around the cartridge. rimmed semi-autos tend to work best in single stack magazines unless it has some funky geometry going on for double stack feeding of a long rimmed cartridge.

I do not care for the rear sight at all, and have ordered the wilson combat to replace it. it will function for now but its not staying on the gun.

D&L also makes rear sights for those revolvers. I'm a big fan of what he makes (even though his website is fucking awful). If you get the Wilson sight and decide you want something else in the future I'd say these are worth a look.

The cylinder has no play at all when its fully locked up. It might seem a stupid thing to say but the way the cylinder closes and the click the gun makes when locking up screams quality. there is also no resistance or binding in the cylinder window when closing the cylinder.

I'm jelly. I've fired my Model 29-2 enough that now the cylinder will move a tiny bit in lock up. It's not yet a safety concern but I wish it would have stayed in its initial condition.

For you Cali peeps, how feasible is it to simply ignore the more retarded firearms laws there? Like, you want a standard AR in a standard AR configuration. Or you want normal capacity magazines in all your weapons. I'm of the mindset that American citizens who want to totally hypothetically and in Minecraft put a regular stock on an SBR without asking permission and paying a fee to exercise their natural rights should just do that. These fictional individuals won't make a big thing about doing so on the Internet but will still do it nonetheless. Is similar behavior a thing that's reasonably possible in CA?

I'm beginning to think that 10mm pistols are not as good an idea as I once thought. Every weapon is a compromise but I think too many concessions need to be made for that caliber. I'm pretty good with a pistol in that caliber but I'm far better with a 9mm. I definitely jumped in with both feet on this one and while I don't regret it, I have some 10mm stuff to get rid of now. I'll keep the Dan Wesson, the SVI, and the S&W.

Now a question for the thread bros. When you fly to attend training courses, how do you get your ammo to wherever you're going?

They also did 50AE. I used to have one but I traded it to a buddy in exchange for some other weird stuff. The 50's had a bad habit of cracking slides due to being overgassed and firing hotter than factory ammo.

That is horribly retarded and not to mention illegal, and I know for sure that any one freedom loving red blooded American would never dare to do something so silly as to have a firearm in a configuration not approved by illegitimate laws and law facilities. Why, I keep all my guns in California config just because I believe in their misinterpretation of the 2nd amendment that much. Shame on you for daring to suggest that you are a free man and can do exactly as you please. I never want to see someone suggest that you should not follow their rules because thousands upon thousands of greater men than any we know have fought and died to make sure that you can do it.
