Maybe it's repulsive Cardi B song that did it for me (WAP *Pukes*) but I feel like media should be less sexually explicit. I don't mean to come across like those fundies from the 80s, but I wish we could go back to more of a "wink wink" attitude regarding sex, masturbation etc. Even swearing for that matter. Like I don't care if you wanna say fuck shit etc. but when you use it in every single sentence, after a while it gets grating to me and you start sounding like someone who doesn't have much of a vocabulary. Even tone down the gore a bit. Gratuitous blood feels a bit tryhard when you overdo it.

Like I said, I don't mean to come across as a prude, and I am not completely against raunchy content in general, but but it kind of indicates of degeneration of society's mentality as a whole if we don't put a cap on this stuff. Any of you agree that media be less vulgar?

Agreed. But it's a cultural problem. Americans are unable to see skin and not think of sex. They cannot fathom the idea of something exposed or naked and not think of sex. This is centuries of self imposed puritan repression coming out for American culture. It'll get much worse before it gets better, and then it'll go right back to its puritan roots.

It would only be a good thing if media became way more puritan. As the trannys would be forced to not show skin and won't get the gratification of exposing themselves.

The rise in vulgarity and degenecay has also affected comedy in my opinion. while swearing in certain contexts and in certain amounts can be funny, its just obnoxious when its nothing but swearing and being vulgar and no punchline or anything. Its just "haha I swear alot look how cool and edgy I am."
Another area this can be seen is inpre 2012 youtube content with weird parody videos of popular IPs such a Pokemon , Mario, and even Sonic (don't worry I am not a sonic fan) as well as those made by Smosh which all relied on super degenerate sex jokes and vulgarity. We even see this in more mainstream content such as The Simpsons, South park and Family Guy but a little more subtle.
I think one of the worst aspects is how much it all lacks boundries, making sexual or degenrate jokes with underaged characters, or jokes nearing bestiality. in otherwords there is a complete lack of moral standards which isn't suprising since the rise of degenracy like pornography innvolves the lowering of standards and the need for more degeneracy.

yeah that content was amusing for a short while, but now it's become very pervasive.

I think the whole hyperfixation on sex has royally fucked up american culture because I'm getting really tired of this shit on top of the whole weirdly egotistical double standards american women have developed.

It's a lot more fun if it's a wink and a nudge instead of shit getting blared in my face. For fuck's sake, I prefer japanese anime/manga with the humor of idiot pervs over this shit in American culture.

This is why I don't watch modern shows and much of movies anymore, and I can't stand modern music. While innuendo has always been a thing, it was usually hiding in clever writing and visual gags instead of being direct in your face about it (sometimes), and I prefer that. This stopped being much of a thing around the 2010s, so I mainly go back to older shows and movies these days, and I'm happier that way. Helps much of it back then was more optimistic and cared about not making life suck instead of nihilistic and cynical like it is now.

You know times are bad when movies from the 30-40s had more clever writing and sex appeal than now.

It's amazing how much better television and films were back in the 50s, 60s, and 70s. Not that they don't make good stuff anymore, but it takes a lot of sifting through garbage to find the quality. The writers and actors back then really knew how to entertain the public. I was watching some Western the other day, nothing well known or popular, but it was so entertaining I had to finish it. They really hooked you into the storylines in those films.
Can you give some examples besides cardi B? Obviously nigger music is likely going to be be more raunchy, as it almost has always been.

I'm wondering if it's really the case at all overall. Make the case. Build the argument. What parts of media are so overly degenerate?

I think TV is actually less vulgar now than it was in the 2000s and 2010s. I remember they had a show back in the 2000s where the whole premise was young, attractive people dancing in their underwear. That was it. That was the entire show. They'd dance and strip down to their undergarments. I don't think they have as much of that in current year.

All of the vulgar shit can be traced back to mainstream media trying to bank off of college students and grads around the mid to late 1990s and the 2000s. When everyone saw MTV get ratings from garbage like The Real World and hosting Spring Break week specials, Mike Judge jumped ship as soon as he could before getting out of the way of barely coherent inebriated co-ed morons rabidly stumbling to the ticket lines. It was enjoyable for a time, but mix this with 9/11 and the political polarization of post 2001 and you got the worse of pampered trust fund asswipes to barely functioning shambling cynical jokey types deeply insecure about their future as the audience.

I think the other problem is the downfall of trying to out-controversy/vulgar the predecessor. I've seen this a lot regarding raunchy shows and movies from the States.

Pretty much the only word you have to dance around saying is the hard R, which gives rise to this:

A pretty good example of how insinuating something is funnier than out-right saying it.
