Hence why I'm still not going into soyboy levels of excitement at the news. I think it was Andre from Midnight's Edge in one of their liveshows that pointed out that the directors in MCU movies don't really direct much other than the actors. I kinda believe him considering that pretty much all the MCU films look like they're made by comittee. My hope is that they have enough respect for Raimi and what he has done for comic book culture that they'll give him a bit more free reign in the direction of the film.Sam Raimi has a unique and very entertaining style. I am a fan and he may well deliver a good DS2 movie. But it wont be the movie we were going to get which would be a weird horror film. Yes, I am aware that Raimi has made some quite famous Horror films. No, I don't think what he turns in for Marvel will be the sort of horror we were going to get. They wouldn't let him if he tried. They are going to keep all the MCU movies pretty much in the same tonal genre as each other which is a shame because what they need to do, what is vital they do right now, is try to transition the MCU into a more of a meta-genre that spans much more different styles of movies. It's the only way it can continue with a similar degree of success.
Fuck China. I can't believe I'm saying this, but if it's either pissing off the ChiComs, or pissing off the homos, then I guess im siding with the homos on this one.Hazz Sleiman is playing Brian Tyree Henry's husband.
First same-sex kiss in the MCU
"Everyone cried on set"
Everyone cried because they knew it would be edited out in post
China won't be happy lol

Between China and the alphabet people, Disney will always choose China. Oh, they will talk about fag represetnation all day long to the Tumblr crowd, but when it's actually on screen, it's something that can be edited or dubbed out for the China release. Just look at the blink and you miss it moment from Rise of Skywalker despite Abrams saying how important it is to have gays on movies.
There'll be some gay characters, even gay moments, but even on the new Thor movie I doubt it will be a central theme like the Twitter crowd wants. They always will cuck to Daddy Pooh in the end.
Part of me hopes that this is Hollywood finally getting even the remotest hint of a clue that wokeness on pre-established franchises is greeted with all the unbridled enthusiasm of a school shooting. Part of this is because movies take quite a while to get made. Years even. The wokest movies coming out today on "geek culture" (I hate that term) were more than likely greenlighted during 2016, when FemBusters was looking to be a huge hit and everyone was all but sure that Her Most Royal Holiness, Hillary Clinton would ascend to the presidency to rule over all us unworthy peasants. Pretty much every studio looked at the future and saw nothing but rainbow flags and feminist fists as the place to hedge their bets.Funny you should bring this up before i was just reading about how they're tweaking the FemThor storylines for the movies in order to "make the best movies we can for the audience".
Twitter really is the Id of the internet.
Didn't this chick write for Rick&Morty? A show that stars an unrepentant asshole who mocks everyone he can?

I really wish these people could learn to keep their pieholes shut on Twitter.
Somebody once said that all of Steve Ditko's characters look ethnically Polish.Yeah Peter has a positively Catholic sense of guilt. Or at least he used to.
Mock her mercilessly.
Well, it actually happened. I randomly stumbled across the Marvel Legends MCU Taskmaster while shopping for unrelated items at Wally World today. In hand, he's pretty impressive, although the included set of fists are rather small and the blurb on the back of the package avoids using any pronouns in describing him, which makes me wonder if there's any credence to that awful rumor that the character was going to be revealed to be a woman in the film (fifty cents says they kill him off in some embarrassing fashion either way). He's very tall, though. Easily as tall as Captain America and more than a head taller than Black Widow when you factor out her giant wedge heels. He also has the new "butterfly" shoulders that have been showing up on more Marvel and Star Wars figures over the past few years....all in all this is one MCU design that I'm probably going to buy the Hasbro action figure of, should I happen across one on the shelves (and anyway, the really important thing about adapting Taskmaster to the screen is that he should consistently wreck all the Avengers' shit and make it look easy).
I dunno. No real way to guess. So the coronavirus is hitting Disney hard right now. Black Widow is getting delayed until it dies down and the parks where that Avengers ride is getting closed until further notice.
How much of it will affect the MCU in the long run?
I dunno. No real way to guess.
Maybe the break kills the momentum that was already winding down.
Maybe as things get back to normal people go for light escapist capeshits and the break gives everyone a chance to catch their breath and jump back in with both feet reviving the genre.
