A quick tangent based on some commentary I've been seeing lately.
Apparently there was a character called Leroy on Daredevil Born Again who Matt represents on a petty larceny. Leroy immediately makes fun of Matt for being blind, and demands probation when, realistically, he's looking at 30+ days in jail. Matt and him go back and forth, and eventually Matt gets him a deal for 7 days. Leroy is still furious because he wants probation and they argue some more.
People don't seem to understand the character of Leroy. They ask what Leroy is meant to represent, or how it reflects Matt's journey. They condemn him for being rude, obnoxious and ungrateful.
For what its worth, Leroy is the most realistic criminal ever portrayed on television. He is the embodiment of the Sisyphean chore all criminal defense attorneys undergo when speaking to their clients, and representative of Matt's struggle as both a criminal defense attorney and Daredevil. Matt can push a boulder up a hill, get his client a magnificent sweetheart deal, and in three weeks Leroy will be back in jail on another retarded charge yelling at Matt for not doing enough to get him out of jail.
